What an AMAZING report from Day 4 *reads1000times*
I used to class myself with the many shadow hunter fans that thought Alex Pettyfer would be a far more preferable actor to represent our sexy, sexy Jace Wayland to Jamie Campbell Bower but after my experience yesterday near the set of The City of Bones I am convinced that Jamie is the perfect Jace.
I only got to the set around two o’clock and by that time there were already about 6 fans there. When asked they told us they hadn’t seen anything/anyone of interest. So we sat around and discussed the actors and the books. We waited two and a half hours before they started rolling and although it may seem like a long time it really was not because of the anticipation and the company. The man who was to tell us when they had started filming would yell “ROLLING” and we would all jump and stay absolutely quiet then he would yell “CUT” and we would all start again but this time we could talk quietly amongst ourselves.
At five o’clock, the man who was yelling about filming came over to us and told us that he didn’t want us to get sunburn or get dehydrated (an hour later they brought us out water bottles) and to be careful. Everybody was so nice.
At five thirty, a group of movie people assembled in front of us and I spotted one of them carrying Clary’s leather jacket. We all inferred that this meant they were shooting a scene in which they were dressed in shadow hunter gear. There was also a tall Asian man in dark long robes that we thought might be Magnus?
The filming man then told us that we wouldn’t see any actors or much of anything for 90mins so a bunch of us got up to explore the surroundings a little. This is when I got the photo of me by the lunch signs.
Next we went and found the actors’ trailers, which were all closed. We were walking away when I spotted Robert Sheehan’s red singlet from behind. My heart was having palpitations. Having before seen him in Misfits I already thought him to be a very funny, sexy and talented actor but before we got very far we were stopped by a crewmember. He told us that it was Robbie’s break and he really wanted him to just be able to have some space and asked us verynicely if we could let him go. Of course we complied.
We then sat on our ledge outside Knox college, or should I say the institute, for quite a while having a brief moment of excitement when we thought we spotted Jamie in a second story window (this later turned out to be false). Lily’s stunt double also came and chatted with the crew in front of us.
Then our fan friends who had been looking about ran back to us with some very exiting news… they had just met Robbie, Kevin and Lily. We hyperventilated for a few seconds before racing off to find the spot and hopefully the actors. When we got to the previously mentioned street there was no one to be seen and although sorely disappointed thought we should double check to see if anyone was still there. As we were walking down the street I saw a trailer door open and just inside the doorframe was a tall, sexy, fit Jace casually smoking a cigarette. He was honestly the hottest person I have ever met and he did have about him that sort of cavalier look about him. I walked past the doorframe because I literally could not believe my eyes but then snapped back to reality. We walked the couple steps back to the door and I timidly approached him my book held out. I couldn’t speak so he asked me if I wanted my book signed I helplessly nodded yes. Then out of the blue a blonde man with long sideburns came running towards our group yelling “NO, no, that is not how it’s done around here!” he thought we had knocked on Jamie’s trailer door. Jamie then assured him that that was not the case and he had been outside already. He finished signing my book and then signed some other peoples too. I can safely say he is all that you could want in a Jace.
That was sadly the end of my day on set at the City of Bones for I had to return home. Hopefully I’ll be back soon
Hello Shadowhunters!
My name is Michelle Mags (his-fairassassin.tumblr.com). You all may know me from my live tweeting while staying at the TMI shoot. I woke up at 6 a.m. and given that today’s my first time visiting, I was confused as to where their filming will take place. My best friend and I headed to Queen’s Park (subway train stop) and walked around to find the set until we saw this beautiful building surrounded by fully equipped trucks/ trailers and cables everywhere!

The picture above is not the Institute. The building to its right (if we face this building, it’s our left) is the Institute. I tried taking pictures of the Institute but made impossible with all the trees and trucks blocking! Here are some parts of the Institute that I was able to take:
Although, it was too quiet and I expected to see more “Shadowhunters” (that’s what I call TMI fans). My best friend (@_my_whispers) and I decided to walk around and see more of the trucks and trailers—to see ANY sign that indicates that we were in the right place. We were along the sidewalk and concluded that this is today’s set and it was proven right when we saw the TMI set board!
We decided to stay closer to the set so we literally sat under a tree which was right in front of the set. On the other tree next to us sat Sebastian “Seb” (@bassicseb) then Maia (@maia_coraseme) and her sister began speaking to him. Eventually, we all came together as one group and became inseparable throughout the entire day/night. Also, a while later, after our phone-charging and meeting up with Gelyn (@gelynmer) trip to Starbucks I met the awesome “triplets”: Amanda (@whyhelloamanda), Annmarrie, and Jade (@doramatique)!
Missing a few people but this is your crew of Shadowhunters bringing you news from the Toronto set: (left to right) Gelyn, Jade (or Amanda/AnnMarie—sorry, I get them mixed up!), Michelle (me), AnnMarie (or Amanda/Jade), Will (you might know him as the guy who first ever spotted Lily and Jamie in Toronto!) and Seb!
Being tired of standing in the field: Seb, Maia, Alleen and I decide to walk around the block/ building and found ourselves in “PRIVATE PROPERTY” (psh, show me the sign). Don’t get me wrong, they don’t kick you out harshly they politely ask you to leave so don’t be intimidated to them! Anyway, right before we were told that we weren’t allowed on this side- I was able to take a picture of the scene. Basically, the crew was setting up for green screens and all the CGI screenings (special effects).
At around 5 pm? (Sorry we weren’t paying attention to time) we began freaking out as we saw Robert Sheehan, our Simon Lewis.
Robert Sheehan is everything the most charming man in the world. He is the only actor who stopped by, waved at us fans sitting down on the benches and said “hello guys” then proceeded to talk to one of the crew members.
and following him is Kevin Zegers who didn’t really notice us because he was hurrying back to the set but look how mighty fine he looks!
A few hours later, Will spotted Lily Collins as she drove by behind us, waving hello. And Seb, being the crazy boy for Lily chased her car.
Nothing, for me, much happened today. In terms of meeting actors or actresses, given that it’s their first day filming in a studio! However, we were able to see around the set and enjoy each others company.
In general, despite the heat of the sun, my unbearable headache, and that we practically did our best to save our phone’s batteries because Seb and I had to share my phone to update everyone, ALSO the fact that we barely spoke or got to see the actors (Robert and Kevin walks by us and NONE of us ask for autographs + pictures, just staring at their beauty)—I, we, had the best time with the best people I could ever think of! I was so proud to be surrounded with such controlled fans that didn’t scream or make a ruckus to get the actor’s attention or make the crew hate us. Seriously, this Shadowhunter lovers-family is the best! Thank you all for making this TMI set visit a memorable experience and stay tuned because I’ll be visiting their sets everyday and updating you all

It’s 8:30 PM (and super dark) in Toronto but very much bright daylight in the Institute. Isn’t it SO cool?

Just traveling downtown was getting my friends and I SUPER excited! once we got downtown we decided to head to their Java Jones (The Mascot) filming site from yesterday. We walked for what seemed like an hour to get to Java Jones and once we were in the area we looked for the door that we saw a picture of Robert and Lily standing in front of (black double doors) and were so excited because we actually STOOD where they stood. We were in front of Java Jones and decided to go inside and probably sat on the couch Lily/Robert sat in! I ordered a drink just for the heck of it and it was actually good, so I recommend going to The Mascot. After our little fan girl session at Java Jones, we headed to the filming site of the day- The Institute.
We were walking around looking at maps trying to find the right building, then voila! discovery! we saw the famous orange “TO TMI SET” sign and were so excited to be there! we saw the trucks, trailers and crew. We were walking back and forth in front of the doors to the set wondering if we could go in. We decided why not? all they’re going to tell us to do is leave, so we went inside and was like “wow” the institute! We were standing in the same building as our Jace, Clary, Simon, Alec and Isabelle! We didn’t walk any further in though we just stayed near the door and looked down the hallway the actors were in trying to get a peak. We noticed that there were stairs to the washroom so decided to take a little break. Once we came up the stairs we tried not to attract attention that we were fans looking for our stars and so we took our phones out pretending to fiddle with them. When I looked up ROBERT came into view and I instantly became speechless. The funny thing was that Robert looking so much like a Simon came out from another hallway holding a plate with a sandwich on it! we looked at each other for a moment and he probably didn’t know I was a fan and kept walking the the other hallway. My friend did one of those loud whispers “Robert!” but he didn’t hear us.
When he disappeared out of site, I instantly regretted not screaming out to him. So again we were alone pretending with our phones and I look up to see a man in black with runes passing by, I instantly yelled “can I have your autograph?” and when he turned to me I did NOT realize that it was KEVIN and I was so happy. He said to hold on and that he would be back and he was real nice. When he came back hes like “ok” and we said “can we have autographs/pictures?” and Kevin smiled his god smile and was like yeah sure no problem and he signed our city of bones book and we were so happy! I got a picture with him and to pose, he put him arm around me and I was soo happy and I’m thinking “omg!! His arm is around me!” so I wind my arm around his waist which was the best thing on earth! and his smile oh gosh his smile.
When my friend asked me to take her picture with Kevin, I took her phone and tried to take a good photo of them but my hand was shaking from excitement so i had to try 3 times to get a decent picture of them and when we were done we said our greatest “thank you!” and he smiled and waved goodbye and soon after a lady told us very nicely that we might get in trouble for being in the building and she was also the lady who went to elementary/high school with Kevin! she was so nice and said maybe we could go out through the main hallway where all the stars were but then she thought better because we might have gotten in trouble. She told us to go around to the other side from an outdoor path and once we got there it was like wow.
We didn’t know that the way we entered the building was the BACK so when went around, the front had a bunch of fans waiting to see the stars. They told us that they were waiting a while and I realized that we got really lucky because we got to see Kevin and Robert. We stayed in the front sitting with the other fans waiting for Lily, Jamie, Robert, Kevin and Isabelle. When I tweeted that I got a pic/autograph people told me that we were the first ones to actually have a picture WITH Kevin and his autograph and it made my day even BETTER. Then other people on twitter were wondering who and where I was and so I identified myself and I got to meet with @hellyjen, @mrwillw,@bassicseb. We talked for a bit and one of the crew said “when I say rolling you have to be quiet but when i say cut you can talk” it was funny because when he say “rolling!” we all instantly shut up.
We saw people come in and out of the set and that’s where we saw a man dressed up as a silent brother with the long robe and the hood but his hood wasn’t up and he was Asian and young, when i tweeted this many people said that it was the possibility of him being Jem and he did look a someone who would play Magnus.
So after all this we kept waiting and waiting and then a crew member came out to say that we had to wait another 90min until the the cast comes out, so we went to get food. Once we got our food we walked around to the back to see if we could find the other cast members and what do we find? Lily’s stunt double. We saw her walking around and going back inside the institute. We took a chance and went inside the building again and there where crew hanging around but they didn’t care or notice us, so again we were walking around looking for the cast. Then I realized what time it was and that I had to leave to meet with some people but I was lucky enough to meet and hug Kevin and to see Robert who came so close to us in person. I will be back on set in a few days so when I do, I’ll keep you guys posted! TMI FOREVER.
Hi, my name is Sebastian Mendez though most of you know me as BassicSeb,
So let me start off by saying that the 23rd of August was a long day for me, I took the train and arrived in Toronto at 8 A.M. in order to go scouting for the TMI set. I decided to check out the old set at Java Jones. It took me about an hour to get there and that is about when I tweeted my first picture that portrayed “The Mascot” the actual coffee shop in place of Java Jones. From there I had no idea where to go and it was all thanks to TMI_Source that informed me of the new location as I was halfway to Kipling to try and check out the studio. Fortunately I made it to Knox around 12 P.M. where I began to wander.
I found multiple trucks stationed outside as well as many signs designating the locale as the TMI TO Set. This was around the time I met MichelleMags and we patiently waited until we saw something or someone from the cast. This is the view we saw as we waited for a couple hours.
Eventually we got tired of waiting and decided to wander which ended us getting kicked out of the set because we got too close, needless to say we did not leave without at first snagging a picture of the green screen.

Eventually we were all very antsy and just either waited by the back entrance or explored. Personally I went with mrwillw to see the cast’s trailers. Now this next part is where you choose to believe me or not, because as kind as they were in letting us stay near the trailers absolutely no photos were allowed and mrwillw can vouch for this. We managed to not only see Robert, Kevin and Jemima, but also got waves from Kevin after he had just changed to a more rune-exposing outfit, and a wave from Robert Sheehan. Finally as we were just about leaving the trailer area we managed to see Jamie, and this was quite the surprise indeed because he was kind enough to sign the books for a few of us (I will be posting the picture of my book once I get it back from my friend who borrowed it).
To keep me from babbling I will say that the rest of the day consisted of waiting by the back entrance of the “Institute”. While waiting we managed to see Kevin and Robert pass by though I only snagged a picture of Kevin.
We also saw this fine gentleman -though we were not quite sure of his role- in the picture below as well as someone carrying Clary’s outfit, and Clary’s double!
I remained on set until about 10:30 with a visit from my friend @KrystinaAli, who I can thank for being the one, not of introducing me to the book, but getting me super into them and the fandom! Not much more happened when it was dark, I believe they were still filming inside, because one member of the crew kept yelling rolling and cut, which signaled us to be silent and them resume talking respectively (forgot to mention this happened throughout the day). Overall it was a great first day on set and I hope to go back again! Oh! I also believe to have seen Church, as there was a cat perched inside the Institute window just looking at us!
Lastly I would like to thank everyone I met that day as well as TMI_Source for allowing me to write this article and saving me from going to Kipling. A shout out as well goes to the kind man that pointed me in the right direction in Toronto when I was lost and the nice lady that spared me a streetcar token when I had no change. I would also like to reiterate my thanks to MichelleMage who let me tweet and text from her phone, for without her I may have been stuck in Toronto, and also to mrwillw, who with his great timing allowed me to see most of the cast.
