CONFIRMED 'City of Ashes' Directed by Harald Zwart This Fall

“The Mortal Instruments – City of Ashes will go into production with Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower directed by Harald Zwart.” Tweeted Moszkowicz.

I personally have a crush on Moszkowicz for his enthusiasm and engagement with the TMI fandom! He has always kept us up to date on what’s happening. Stud!

If you are like me, you want all of the nitty-gritty’s and THR offered up a little bit more yesterday:

Harald Zwart (The Karate Kid) returns to direct the sequel along with Collins and Bower with shooting scheduled to start this fall from a screenplay penned by Jessica Postigo Paquette, who also wrote the script for City of Bones.

Robert Kulzer (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Resident Evil franchise) is producing for Constantin Film alongside Don Carmody (Resident Evil franchise).

Executive producers are Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne (The Lord of The Ringsfranchise) for Unique Features and Martin Moszkowicz for Constantin Film.

Right on peeps! We get Jessica Postigo again with the screenplay!! So basically, it looks like Sony is keeping the franchise streamlined with the same Director, Producers, Actors, Screenwriters…..learn from Twilight much? :P

I think this is not only a huge reflection on how stunning the movie is turning out to be (in the editing room), but also a nod toward Cassie Clare’s latest successful release of ‘Clockwork Princess’. Let’s face it….it was huge. My only skipped breath is how we were somewhat led to believe the Infernal Device movies would be alternately produced. Looks like they are going all ‘Mortal Instruments’ first. What do you guys think?

‘Infernal Devices’ Movie Catches Anthony Neely Interest to Play Jem Carstairs

Peeps! Check out this Hotty McHotterson who wants to be Jem!! He is fantastical to me. Not Will, but a VERY good JEM!!! :P If you are active on Twitter (if not, what the heck is wrong with you!! Follow us @TMI_MovieNews) you will have seen the amazing condo after the Anthony Neely deets:

 

Anthony Neely, a fan favorite for the role of Jem Carstairs in the Infernal Devices books (which are prequels to The Mortal Instruments) has shown some interest in the part on Twitter, and even connected with the author Cassandra Clare! He is of Euro-American and Taiwanese descent, while Jem was born in Shanghai, China and is of Chinese and British descent. Like Jem, he is bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese. He could definitely pull of the description of Jem! However, can he act?

Neely is a popular singer, but has recently gone into acting and has revealed that he is very interested in pursuing the career path, adding “I want to try holding knives or guns, and shave my head to act like a ruffian!”

Are you feeling hesitant? Me too. A bit. We’ve seen singers cross the ranks to acting many times. How often is it successful? I def don’t want to pigeon-hole the guy, but we need to see his skills. ALLL of them. And from the looks of these images, that shouldn’t be painful At.All.

Here I was, scanning the local paper and what do I see?? Walla!!! Right here in good ol’ Utah, we are hearing about the summer hit “Mortal Instruments”! Admin is so happy!!! :D

August – “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” (rating pending)

The race to find the next “Twilight” sees another contender with this adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s young adult series.

Lily Collins stars as a seemingly normal girl who finds out she is descended from a line of half-angel warriors tasked with protecting humanity from demons.

Although its release is still a few months away, Constantin Films has already announced a prequel is in the works.

Lily Collins in Negotiations for ‘Pride & Prejudice and Zombies’

Nobody freak out. I had a micro-heart attack when I read this, but I’ll explain why we are totally needing to chill. First, the story deets:

 

Burr Steers is on board to direct with Lily Collins in negotiations to star in the adaptation of Seth Grahame Smith’s mash-up of the literary classic.

The book follows the tangled relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th century England who are faced with a new challenge — an army of undead zombies. Collins would play the Elizabeth Bennet character.

Darko Entertainment and Panorama Media are producing with Panorama funding.

Natalie Portman and Annette Savitch of Handsomecharlie films and Allison Shearmur of Allison Shearmur Productions are producing.

The project has been in development for some time, with David O. Russell eyed to direct, Portman starring and Lionsgate distributing. But the script took too long to develop the proper tone, leading to Russell and Portman exiting because of scheduling conflicts.

With a director locked in and a femme star lined up, the film seems to be finally getting closer to liftoff.

 

Obvs the film is going to be slower in advancing than ‘Mortal Instruments’….need I say more? heehee. In all seriousness, I can guarantee the said negotiations with Collins include the fact that she is #1 prioritized to wrap any and all TMI movies. She has always declared herself so personally involved in the story and a huge fan herself, there’s no way she would give up our films, especially for a one-hit zombie flick. Portman is an exciting prospect, I’m kind of hopeful she will still be a part of it now time has passed and perhaps her scheduling better? I would def go see this movie…You?

Like Brooke Shields before her, The Mortal Instruments star has caused a stir with her untamed brows. “Big brows weren’t the look in L.A., where I grew up,” Collins, who is the daughter of musician Phil Collins,told Glamour. “But my mom instilled in me that it’s the quirky things that make you beautiful.”
