I found this brief interview on youtube and although it’s from 2010 it gave me a little more of a glimpse of our Simon. I mean, I love the attitude and one liners. He makes a joke and amuses himself even if not everyone around him necessarily gets it, which is totally the way Simon comes off.
He makes lite of everything and has fun while doing it. I think Robert is adorable in this clip. I love the head butting commment! And don’t worry, when Mortal Instruments wins all it’s awards, I am sure they will let you keep one!
I have seen a lot of people be surprised we have a confirmed Alec and Isabelle but not a Simon because Simon’s a more major character. And that does make sense: I think a lot of movie casting is sort of top-down from the highest billed parts. Watching this casting happen, it’s been a very gestalt approach with casting all the characters with the same amount of attention and at the same time. I think it’s really interesting and probably good in terms of building a workable ensemble and how they bounce off each other (Alec and Isabelle have to seem like they really could be brother and sister; Simon has to have chemistry not just with Lily/Clary but with Jamie/Jace; they have to have very different energy. Luke and Valentine likewise have to have a very different look and energy.)
Anyway I have a favorite Simon but I can’t say who it is. I’m rooting for him quietly because I think he’d be awesome. My guess is we won’t have a confirmed Simon until July because of Reasons. But July isn’t that far off!
That’s like 10 days….like a week and a half!!! Till July. Then they will probably tell us the 31st, but HEY, that’s still plausible to start filming in August??? (is your cup half full yet?)
Seriously this is the most tight lipped casting I have ever experienced!! What are they doing over there??
So what we know is very little. Jamie is Jace, Lily is Clary and after that the information stalls…
Here’s what we have heard from various sources:
At leadst 100 actors have auditioned for Magnus and I would think out of all of those hopefuls they have found one but haven’t divulged his identity. There has been actors who have let us know that they have not won the role so that tells us that they have in all liklihood made a decision.
As for Simon according to CC they have offered the role to someone now they are just checking to see if his schedule can be freed up enough to take the job. ( I can only think of one actor who would have scheduling conflicts, but what do I know?)
Isabelle had been narrowed down to eight actresses last we heard. One of them was Australian so I am crossing my fingers and everything else that Phoebe Tonkin gets the role
As for Alec there hasn’t been much grumbling about him at all?? Which I find rather odd. But then again this whole wait until we start filming to reveal the cast is odd as well. I mean, how can they start filming in August if no one has had time to rehearse with eachother??
Oh well I guess we have to assume they know what they are doing. Well I promise you all that when the news breaks about who wins these oh so coveted roles we will do a proper write up for each!

movie news dutifully delivered!
So I can’t post much; I’m running off the airport, literally, to catch a plane home.
I had a great meeting last night with Robert (of Constantin — the people who own the movie rights to City of Bones) and Jessica (screenwriter, along with Marlene King) and the director, who had such incredibly detailed questions about the film that I found myself having to pull out my iPad and reread City of Bones because even I couldn’t remember what happened. But he did, which is an excellent sign!
Anyway, it was a great meeting — we went on for hours till they kicked us out of the restaurant and everyone was incredibly enthusiastic. Now here is an actual piece of actual news: I know people have been fretting because Lily has so many projects (she’s a popular girl) so I checked in and she is locked down schedule-wise for an August 15 shooting start date for City of Bones.
Yes, that’s an August shooting start date. So there, an actual piece of news. They’re hiring a casting director now to start on the rest of the cast, and Lily has what’s called “meaningful consultation” on the roles of Jace and Simon (meaning she gets to put in her two cents, which only seems fair since she has to kiss them both) — we know she already threw in for Jamie but I will say that she definitely likes someone for Simon that a lot of you all like. Who knows, maybe she can talk him into it. Girl with good taste, our Lily.
And that’s all for now, I run to the airport, but I’ll have a bit more for you later — like the director’s name.

Two thoughts:
#1) Two words: LOGAN LERMAN. Come on peeps, this HAS to be who Cassie is referring to. Lily and Logan are on set AS WE SPEAK. We’ve all been very vocal about Logan as Simon. Cross your bras on this people!!! Cross anything you got!
#2) WHO WAS AT THE RESTAURANT!???? Come forward…waitress, hostess, patron, rat…ANYONE!!! What can you tell us???????
So I am sitting here on a Sunday afternoon folding laundry and watching a Lifetime Movie called “Pregnancy Pact” ( yeah I know glamorous life, right?) Anyway, I’m watching this guy act and he is soo good and cute, but not in an obvious sort of way..then it hits me! SIMON OMG he would make a great Simon. I hit IMDB to find out his name which is Max Ehrich and through some internet sleuthing he was 17 in 2009 so he should be 20 or so by now. Which puts him in the perfect age bracket for Simon.
Now for all we know Simon has been cast and set in stone and we do not yet know who that is. But, until then I have to throw this kids name out there. He could totally be Simon!
He has done a lot of t.v. appearances on shows such as iCarly, Parenthood, No Ordinary Family just to name a few…
Okay, so I have no idea what Troix Magazine writes about , but every hottie mc hotterson guy ends up on their cover!! I am thinking of asking for a subscription for Christmas!!
Kind of has the “made in Brooklyn” vibe about him . I could totally see him walking the streets of New York City…
Oh Simon..I mean Tony, what song do you have for us today? He looks like a natural behind a guitar and isn’t Simon’s Band a large part of who he is

This is Tony Oller he is 20 years old so definitely in the right age group for the cast that has already been picked. He has that “boy next door/best-friend” look, yet I can totally see him vamping out and getting hotter. He is 6 ft tall and you may have caught him on the Disney Channel’s Gigantic. According to his IMDB page he has been singing and acting since he was 9 years old. Talk about a showbiz vet!! I could totally see Tony as Simon and if they haven’t brought him in to auditon, perhaps they should. I tried to include pictures that showed how diverse his look can be depending on what you are looking for. I must say I think he is striking and a good choice for a Simon hopeful….
