This was a mere TIP, from a NON-REPUTABLE source. (Had to get that out) So here we are merely SPECULATING that Evanescence would be a fantastic fit for the ‘Mortal Instruments’ Soundtrack. There is so much to be done between now and a soundtrack, that this is a mere thought. HOWEVER, Scott Charles Stewart, the Director, is a fan of the group.
This song, ‘Imaginary’, would be rock solid for Clary’s voice. Do you agree? What do you think?
I can’t say I ever doubted the choice to put Scot Stewart int he Director’s chair for ‘Mortal Instruments’, but now I’m in love with the choice! Things I feel are important to be included and make TMI unique are exactly his specialty. Let’s see:
gritty, goth, edgy feel? (check)
active protagonist? (check)
world within a world? (check)
most important: character development! (check…as in, check out what he said):
“In addition to the grittier, edgy elements, Scott praised Cassandra’s creative storytelling and her strong voice throughout.
“They’re really original,” Scott said of the series. “The characters are strong and funny, and it’s just a really interesting take on all that stuff.”
Yes!!! He’s bringing the humor. Hallelujah peeps, he is going to ROCK this movie. Can’t wait, can’t wait, can’t wait! *bouncing*
…and SO many more exciting things Cassandra shared in an interview (via Holly Black) on HollywoodCrush! Cassie talked Lily Collins, Jace casting, conversations with Scott Stewart (squiee!) and her own personal dream cast from any era. It is juicy! *slurp*
When asked about the Jace casting canundrum, Clare responded:
“I have to look at pictures of hot guys who are blond that my fans send me every day, but it’s not the worst job in the world,” Cassandra admitted. “I’ve talked to the studio many times. We’ve talked about Alex. We’ve talked about other actors. They’ve sent me photos of other actors they’re looking at. I can’t say who they are, but they’re definitely moving ahead with the project.”
Everyone should be happy with that excerpt! They’ve talked Alex, and pretty much all the other ‘Hot Blond Guys’ they can get over in Hollywood. Aren’t you thrilled with “they’re definitely moving ahead with the project?” wOOt wOOt!
That’s my first real girl scream on here, so keep it legit. I’m not a ditzy fan girl. I’m a smart one!
You have to scream when you see this…why?
The movie is tangible! Lily has always been tangibly gorgeous, but this shows the hard work they’ve been putting into effects and the set. Holy crow people!! For all those wonks out there who keep nay-saying that they are really going to shoot. LOOKIE SEE!!!??
It’s freakin’ awesome! I LOVE the way they have designed the carriage!! It is spot on in my book (and yours consequently….we’re reading the same one *hee*) Do you love the way it’s been designed? Is it what you pictured?
This seems to be the beginning of a loooong relationship with Lily as she gets deeper into the film. When releasing this, she said it was ‘one ‘ of the renderings they gave her to look over. Yippers!! I LOVE updates. Don’t you??
Are you having the most fantasmical day now like me???
With everyone pitching to know the beat on Alex Pettyfer and ‘The Mortal Instruments’, who do you know is telling the truth? How about Cassandra Clare, you know, the woman who started it all? Unprecedented in her fan-connection, Clare has taken the helm of not only her books, but all things associated. LOVE THAT!
Keeping all of us in line with one source saves all of our sanity…and our lives this morning with rumors of casting Jace.
Here are the following tweets (for those who aren’t tweeping yet. You crazies!)
And there you have it. If Pettyfer had officially denied the offer from Screen Gems don’t you think it would have come up in Clare’s conversation? Just a thought.
Final take: It was gutt-wrenching to hear that Alex wasn’t taking the role. He may or may not. IF he doesn’t, there WILL be a ‘Mortal Instruments’ movie and it will ROCK with another completely hot blonde guy named Jace. I personally think it is killing us because we just want him cast…really, really, really bad. Cast him. NOW.
“I wanted to wait till I could have an official chat with the studio folks before I said anything, so my small contribution is: I know Alex has met with the director, Scott Stewart, several times; I know he screened Scott’s movie, Priest, and loved it; I know he read the TMI books over the holidays and really liked them and liked Jace, and his representatives are negotiating making a deal for the role of Jace. At this point it’s all about the deal, which really doesn’t have anything to do with me, so I stand back and wait for news like the rest of you. “
Cassie suggested a game of Scrabble while we wait….I’ve got a word. Or two. HURRY UP ALREADY!!!! (ok, that was three.) Hope Alex and Screen Gems heard it!
Love Love LOVE Cassie Clare. Is she not the greatest? If I lived in Massachussetts…I’d like feed her cat for her or something
Hollywood Crush released more of Lily Collins interview from yesterday. Included are which scenes she is most looking forward to…any guesses? Collins also confirmed that Scott Stewart intends to stay as close as possible to the ‘grittiness’ of the book:
“There’s a party scene where we go to visit this warlock, and it’s very urban New York, but with a magical twist. I’m excited to become part of this gothic, dark world”
She also agreed that Alex Pettyfer would be a “good fit” for the role of Jace! After talking about the huge push for Alex from fans,
“I trust a lot of the fans in their opinions. I’ve heard Logan Lerman thrown out for Simon.”
And her thoughts on Jace’s character?
“Jace is an interesting one. He’s incredibly charming. He’s savvy in that he knows he’s charming and he works that charm, and he knows he’s attractive and can work his way into any situation. But at the same time, he does have insecurities. A lot of actors may not want to show a side of themselves being insecure. That’s what Jace does, and I feel a lot of people can relate to him. A lot of guys do feel insecure, but don’t want to admit it. A lot of the fans has been tweeting that [they want] Alex Pettyfer. I don’t know the process.”
We love you too Lily Collins!!!! It’s so stellar that we have been heard! Keep it up fan-bees!!
I have had a few inquiries on the City of Bones Movie director Scott Charles Stewart. Some fans have extremely mixed feelings after watching ‘Legion’ and ‘The Priest’, which he directed. So…to keep you all happy, I dug up what I could. Any other tidbits are more than welcome in the comment section. Just remember to back up your info with a source!
Directed “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love” (short), “Legion”, “Priest” (post-production), and Mortal Instruments (pre-production)
Wrote “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love” (short), and “Legion”
Produced “Big Love”, “Sweet”, “Ten Tiny Love Stories”, “The Upgrade”, “Falling”, “G.” and “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love” (short)
Visual Effects for 17 titles, including: “Iron Man”, “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”, “Night at the Museum”, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”, “The Lost World: Jurassic Park!”, do I really need to keep going?
Perhaps the worry was that he wouldn’t draw justice to the love story…but he’s done plenty of love/romance. I don’t think there is a question on the Visual Effects is there?
I am optimistic on this choice of Director for Mortal Instruments. The more I find, the more I will be sure to pass on. For now, I think his experience speaks volumes…and cross your fingers for VOLUMES of MI!!!
