Jared Harris Talks TMI With Hollywood.Com

With the embargo lifted for some of the main stream media which visited the TMI set in Toronto during filming we are getting more and more details and interviews from stars of City of Bones.

Jared Harris who plays Hodge had nothing but good things to say about his TMI experience and working with such a young cast.  When asked whether or not he felt out of place working on a set with a bunch of 20 year olds he had this to say:

Still, the 51-year-old actor didn’t feel old on the TMI set, which was largely comprised of young Hollywood up-and-comers like Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower, thanks to their professionalism. “Nowadays you find that a lot of the youngsters have been doing it almost as long as you have, because they’ve been doing it since they were 6, you know?” Harris said, adding, “So they’re all pros.”

As for the TMI fanbase:

Harris also seem unphased by the much younger following TMI has as opposed to, say, Mad Men. The actor, who admitted he hadn’t read Clare’s books before signing on to the project, noted “This is slightly different than the Mad Men [fandom] because it exists in a literary form first, the fans have [it in their] imaginations already. But something like Mad Men, it exists in Matt Weiner’s mind. And no one can read what Season 6 and Season 7 is, because it’s in his head.”He added, “So I would say in that sense, it’s probably a little freer, whereas in this one, you have an obligation to that mythology. And you don’t want to piss the fans off, you know?”

Hodge Joins Todays Casting Frenzy

Jared Harris joins the party to play Hodge. Born August 24, 1961 makes him the oldest member of the cast thus far at 50.  But to be truthful I pictured him as an older character just not sure about this old?  Perhaps he was older than Valentine and the rest of the circle.  Cassandra Clare is very happy with this choice so if she’s happy then I’m happy too.

Hodge is also a really complicated character. He’s not entirely bad, not entirely good. He’s a brilliant man led down a bad path a long time ago and he can’t turn back, but he does love those kids he tutored. So if you’ve seen either Mad Men or Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows (in which he was Moriarty), you know this guy, and you know he’s fantastic at moral ambiguity.

He’s got SAG awards and Emmys all over the place and I think he’ll really nail Hodge’s moral dilemma. Welcome, Jared!

I told you it wasn’t going to be a boring day!

Now if they will just give us Alec!!!
