This is not the first time we have looked at Douglas Booth, but now we have a cast request for Will Herondale and in the above picture I can totally see him as Will!!
He is totally hot and beautiful, which is exactly the description Cassie gives us of Will in the books. Born in 1992 he is a mere 20 years old so he is young enough to play our beloved Will! Recent work features him in Great Expectations, LOL, and Romeo and Juliet.
One film I saw him in was Worried About the Boy, although a little disturbing to see him as Boy George I thought he did an exellent job! The boy definately has the acting chops to pull of Will with no problem!!
So even though it’s not the first time we have looked at him when I saw the cast request come in I thought, WHY NOT??
…and SO many more exciting things Cassandra shared in an interview (via Holly Black) on HollywoodCrush! Cassie talked Lily Collins, Jace casting, conversations with Scott Stewart (squiee!) and her own personal dream cast from any era. It is juicy! *slurp*
When asked about the Jace casting canundrum, Clare responded:
“I have to look at pictures of hot guys who are blond that my fans send me every day, but it’s not the worst job in the world,” Cassandra admitted. “I’ve talked to the studio many times. We’ve talked about Alex. We’ve talked about other actors. They’ve sent me photos of other actors they’re looking at. I can’t say who they are, but they’re definitely moving ahead with the project.”
Everyone should be happy with that excerpt! They’ve talked Alex, and pretty much all the other ‘Hot Blond Guys’ they can get over in Hollywood. Aren’t you thrilled with “they’re definitely moving ahead with the project?” wOOt wOOt!
While everyone’s head is spinning with AlexForJace and MaxIronsForJace whiplash anyway….I thought this was the time to post a recent explanation by Cassie Clare.
Douglas Booth is the one and only fellow I’ve struggled with personally, but know this: If he is indeed cast…he will have my FULL support. Savvy?
Here is what Clare had to say regarding Douglas:
1) Of all the actors suggested, and that SG has seen, he’s the closest in
actual age to Jace.
2) He’s beautiful. Jace is supposed to be *beautiful, *in the manner of
someone with angelic parentage, not musclebound or square-jawed or
beefcakey. Jace is repeatedly described as muscular but lean.Much like

3) He projects excellent charisma on film. You are judging off still
pictures. That is one of the *worst* ways to figure out if someone is right
for a role. There is such a thing as actorly charisma. It can make
unattractive people into sex symbols and beautiful people repulsive. Acting
matters.
4) For someone who is so beautiful (he used to model in the same Burberry
campain as Alex Pettyfer) he also projects vulnerability, which is important
for Jace, and not that easy to do. Pinup looks can actually work against
you. In that vein, while he is beautiful, it’s in an unusual way, rather
than looking like he came out of a Zac Efron cute boy cloning machine.
5) He’s the right height to play Jace as well as the right build.
And there’s 5 reasons that are airtight…as in INDISPUTABLE. So don’t try. Really. You will sound like an idiot. She’s the author. The End.
PS I will be digging up some vid’s of this guy now. I’d really like to see him in action!! Be watching….
There has been a recent buzz with Douglas Booth as of late. So, here’s the latest. According to Examiner Doug will be meeting with Screen Gems early this week. This is based on twitter conversations that were validated by his SAG Awards date Naya Rivera (‘Glee’). Was that as bad as my aunt’s, sister’s, dog-washers garbage-man? Just checking.
According to @Douglas_J_Booth twitter (which is NOT verified), when asked about Jace’s role:
“I’m flattered all you TMI fans are considering me. I’m meeting the head of Screen Gems next week.”
Booth’s meeting with Screen Gems is still yet to be confirmed….OF COURSE I will let you know the second things are official! Please don’t think I’m a party-pooper. Just want to make sure this site stays legit. And I know you are going to ask….NO, I am not a Douglas Booth hater. He’s just not on the top end of my list for Jace. A girl can have her feelings right peeps? Don’t hate on me hater.
Is this considered two-timing? Natalie Markey at the Examiner has posted these pics, and as she covers the ‘Mortal Instruments’ beat, thinks he’s a great option for Jace. Douglas Booth=hot. He’s 6’1 and of course, he’s British. Gah! What is it with the UK and their men??
Twitter even came alive from Mexico with Cassie Clare’s approval on this guy for Jace!
I can’t argue with her that he is a close option…a VERY close option. I’ll be honest when I say I was bitter at my first glance. (Yes Alex, you’re making us bitter!) But if Doug takes the role, with no dramatic negotiations and weirdness….I’m IN!
Are you guys breathing? You ok? Take it slowly, let it sink in….there are other Jace look-alikes out there. But Alex: I ain’t quittin’ you yet! *wipes sweat from brow*
