Will Jonathan Rhys Meyers Be The Right Villain?

How do you all think Jonathan will do as our main villian?  I haven’t really seen him in any badass roles, so this pick has intrigued me.  I watched him in Tudor’s and thought he did a good job, he played the role of spoiled king fairly well I thought.  I hope he can play the “insane” card well.  I’m ready for the lights, camera, action to begin.

Jonathan born July 27, 1977 makes him makes him 35 years old at the moment.  A little younger than I would have thought the actual Valentine was but I can live with it. I could definately get lost in those eyes and I could see why Jocelyn would have as well.  In this pic he totally looks like he could be Jamies’s father.  By that I mean there’s a resemblance to me.

Either way most articles are saying he is in talks, but that many sites can’t be wrong, can they? I mean how many days did we sit around waiting for Alec/Kevin confirmation and it turned out to be totally true.

So after this post I will put together the next one annoucing when it becomes official just in case :)

Well the casting news is speeding up.. seeing as they start filming August 20th they should probably wrap things up.  Born on March 11, 1958 he is 54 years old.

Which is fine because technically we should never really see him!!

But, he the most age appropriate cast member thus far.. ha ha ..had to throw that in there.

Here is what Cassie herself had to say:

Dude seems appropriately creepy to me. Also he will be buried under pounds of makeup and robes. Interested to see how the Silent Brothers turn out visually

Well at least we know Cassie still has her sense of humor……

Not the casting news we were hoping for **cough cough- VALENTINE** but it’s something.

Alec Lightwood Still Not Confirmed

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Wow… so I just  read Cassie’s Tumblr,  you guys need to check out some of these key phrases:

There was a mixup and it was thought the confirmation letter was signed but it wasn’t, because the movie schedule had changed (it changes with every new draft of the script) and suddenly the actor wasn’t sure the new dates would work.

And in fact they didn’t. That actor isn’t going to play Alec. The scheduling didn’t work out. So. It is indeed a good thing I didn’t announce it then, annoying as it was for everyone at the time. I want you to be able to trust me and so not giving you information that may not pan out is important to me.

Then she went on to say:

As of this literal moment, I have not gotten the press release/go-ahead to say who Alec is, which means that the confirmation letter isn’t signed. Which means we do not have an official Alec. That could change any second. But I am not witholding information about who has been cast as Alec to be mean (seems pointless, and Variety would just carry the story anyway because they’d get the press release as it is meant for, well, the press). And I can’t tell you when Alec will be announced because it isn’t planned ahead like that: “We will announce Alec on the seventh of August, at nine am!” They wait for the confirmation letter to go through. Asking “When will we have Alec?” is like asking “When will it rain?” or “When will we have a car that runs on dandelions?”

So basically in sum-up, I don’t have an answer to those questions — we will have an Alec, and soon, because they cannot make the movie without him — and I will, as I have always promised, tell you as soon as I am able, and I will give you only the information I know is definitely true.

 

So what have we learned from this post?  This is what I get from it.  Alec is no longer British.

So I am really sad because Christian Cooke is a Brit and I really really wanted him.  As far as Kevin goes, someone said he put it on his twitter that he was Alec, and then it was deleted… but again it’s all just hear say until Cassie or the studio confirms it.

Not sure how I feel about it now..how about you  guys??

So excited about the new arrivals!  Love Jared Harris, he can play calculatingly cunning.  I even pictured Hodge with a beard! LOL!  I think they are doing a great job with all the new arrivals these are good actors.  Love Magnus he is very HOT HOT HOT!!!  Alec needs to be HOT HOT HOT!!!  Just a few more puzzle pieces gang and we are ready for filming!!!

Robert Maillet is playing Blackwell.  Now to be totally honest, it has been so long since I read and re-read City of Bones that when I heard the grumblings that he was cast as Blackwell I was like??? Who the heck is Blackwell??

I have no idea why we are getting news about these itsy bitsy parts and no news about our beloved Alec, Simon or Magnus?? Even Luke, Hodge, Jocelyn and Valentine are still outstanding, but I guess some news is better than no news at all!  And let’s face it, we need villians too and this guy looks ultra creepy!!

Many of you may recognize him from Sherlock Holmes, Immortals, and t.v. Once Upon A Time.  He also was a wrestler before he was an actor which would make sense seeing as he looks like he could totally crush someone!!  His IMDB page is nothing to sneeze at.. so I say good job casting directors and keep them coming!! :)

‘Mortal Instruments’ Likely Casting Simon Lewis in July

Simon, Simon, Wherefore art thou Simon!?

I have seen a lot of people be surprised we have a confirmed Alec and Isabelle but not a Simon because Simon’s a more major character. And that does make sense: I think a lot of movie casting is sort of top-down from the highest billed parts. Watching this casting happen, it’s been a very gestalt approach with casting all the characters with the same amount of attention and at the same time. I think it’s really interesting and probably good in terms of building a workable ensemble and how they bounce off each other (Alec and Isabelle have to seem like they really could be brother and sister; Simon has to have chemistry not just with Lily/Clary but with Jamie/Jace; they have to have very different energy. Luke and Valentine likewise have to have a very different look and energy.)

Anyway I have a favorite Simon but I can’t say who it is. I’m rooting for him quietly because I think he’d be awesome. My guess is we won’t have a confirmed Simon until July because of Reasons. But July isn’t that far off!

That’s like 10 days….like a week and a half!!! Till July. Then they will probably tell us the 31st, but HEY, that’s still plausible to start filming in August??? (is your cup half full yet?)

Logan Lerman’s ‘Mortal Instruments’ Casting Looks Bleak

Trying to type on the sopping wet computer…my tears! Oh the tears. #LoganforSimon is not looking good. In fact, if I were a betting woman….Cassie has told us it isn’t happening between the lines.

 

Many, many MANY people have auditioned for Simon.

I cannot tell you, like I said earlier who has auditioned for any of the roles due to union laws. Because Logan is so enormously busy, and already leads a franchise, I can say that even though we all love him (Robert, my producer, worked with him before on Three Musketeers) it would be very very very difficult to make that work. See: Fancasting, Dangers of. I’m not saying never, because I don’t have the authority or even the knowledge to say never; I’m saying if I were in a betting pool it’s not where I’d put my money. You never know, though.

Yes. I still love Cassie. I still love the movie, franchise, and director. But I’m going to go soak my heartbreak in a big ice-cold slurpee. Until there’s more news :)
