Here are the key points from the Hollywood Reporter :
Constantin Film announced on Tuesday that principal photography on the sequel, which was already in production with Sigourney Weaver attached to join the cast, has been delayed. A statement from the production company states that it will use the time to “analyze the results to date and reposition the franchise in order to maximize results for future installments.”
Here’s what Martin Moszkowicz had to say:
“Constantin Film has a long tradition of adapting books to the big screen. Pushing back the start of production of City of Ashes was a decision we did not take lightly. But after speaking with all of our partners on the creative and distribution side, it was clear that it will be beneficial to have more time to reposition the film in the current marketplace. The Mortal Instruments series has an incredibly loyal and ardent fan base and is a best-selling book series. While taking Cassandra Claire’s [sic] vision to the screen we want to make sure to draw on the full potential of the franchise.”
So there you have it folks. Perhaps this a good thing. If they are in fact taking the time to make it better then maybe they are taking the constructive criticism from the fans around the world and making some serious changes to make it more appealing to everyone.
Your thoughts on this…and please some of us are really bumming over this announcement so I would prefer to be spared the I TOLD YOU SO’s if you can at all manage not to do that it would be greatly appreciated.
Now if you all will excuse me I am going to curl up in the fetal position
