And I’m not busting on Asians because I honestly pictured Magnus more ivory toned than tan; it just kinda bugged me. My first language was ryuken, my second Japanese and then English. I’m more Okinawan than some natives themselves. Even though I’m white. σ(^_^;)
The dialogue in the scene is really cheesy. I think the woman who created Pretty little liars wrote the script? If its true ,then, that explains it.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of Godfrey Gao, but I think Adam Lambert would’ve been a better Magnus.
Possibly. But he’s white, and Magnus is Asian. I understand fully, why Cassandra Clare was intent on them making sure that Magnus was Asian. Or at least part Asian. It plays a large part of his character. Being from Indonesia, or West Indies as he remembers since he’s older than time itself. Not to mention most main characters in films and books are either white or black, our society in the west hemisphere of the Earth usually don’t give Asians much credit. Even Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift’s main character was a white guy. Even though it was based in Japan. Even his love interest isn’t Asian. I pictured someone who dressed like Lambert, and wore their hair like Lambert, but I did not picture Lambert himself. As a matter of fact… I didn’t picture any celebrity for any of the characters. I used my imagination.
I think he looks amazing. In the scene, it did seem a little awkward and weird but I just have to remember this is just behind the scenes footage. They haven’t added anything yet to make it sound and look more cinematic, like lighting, effects and music. I’m still pretty optimistic about him I think he will do great.
I’m sorry… but the more I pay attention to this production the more I notice things. Putting aside that this was a book first. I mean… giving a FULL understanding, PRETENDING I haven’t read the books first… I already see things that sort of tell me that they really didn’t take it as seriously as they said they would. I’ll give just one example or two… the runes… look like they were drawn on with a black sharpie. They have the same rune on them more then once (this is the second example) the runes that looked like tattoos were the supposed to be the “Permanent” ones. The rest would fade into scars, and would have to be reapplied to again for the same effect. If (for example) the rune of the “Strength” was a permanent rune… then why would they have it on them more than once…? They should be covered from head to toe in silvery white scars from SO MANY runes that have been applied… especially Jace… they have barely any scars. I don’t want to hear anything about CGI, because the NightCrawler from XMEN sat in the makeup chair for HOURS while they painted SCARS on him… they didn’t even need an ounce of CGI to make it look real… sorry… but… none of this was taken seriously… I’m with Jack on this one… sorry guys. I don’t sugar coat anything. I don’t blind myself with denial either

But yeah the take we saw seemed a little awkward…but for all we know that was like the first take and that is not the one that ends up in the “can” (is that the right terminology Scrottie?) anyway I think looks wise he is dead on, I mean love the glitter, love the hair and his english is pretty damn good so that part works for me. So yah MTV thanks for the treat today!! And thanks for getting it up Jod!

I thought his hair could have used A LOT more glitter. His facial hair annoys me; Magnus is supposed to look 19 not 27. (ｰｰ;)
Anna, I COMPLETELY agree! He is such a fantastic Magnus…if they would’ve toned down the tan and kept him clean shaven. And I’m missing more glitter too. What can we say? Not everyone must’ve seen him “our way”

I sometimes wonder if this movie is gonna be any good,considering the runes look fake & drawn with sharpie is my guess.
I hope this movie doesn’t suck.City of Bones is my favorite book like ever but like JoshQ said hardly any rumes their effin up or maybe they want to make a quick buck..now I apologize.
