He looks gorgeous. My guess is that the studio has decided to age Alec’s character a bit so that he’s a young adult not a teen. Just a feeling. Maybe they want to emphasize the trustworthy big brother character or something. Someone slightly older and respnsible. I’m okay with them altering his age slightly. I mean he is meant to be a bit of an old soul anyway, afterall he caught the eye of a centuries old warlock right? And I don’t think he looks as old as his actual age anyway. I think he has a bit of a baby face. My husband is kinda like that. He’s 36, a father of four, and still gets asked for I.D. at the liquour store! And the legal age here is 19! Anyway I think he looks really good and his accent in the trailer seems convincing so I am very excited to see him in action. Also very excited to see the chemistry between Alec and Magnus!

It’s not that I have a severe problem with it, it’s more like… is that really necessary? Like… example: JoshQ pointed something out a while back. He said Clary looks nothing like we pictured because what Clary is ‘supposed’ to look like… isn’t appealing to the general eye. Another words, whenever they make a movie about George Washington, they probably will most likely NOT have the actor have wooden teeth. It’s not appealing to our current state that our society is in. Although I disagree with this immensely, I see where JoshQ was coming from. I am a hardcore ‘anti-femininistic’ kind of girl. I believe that women need to prove that their side of the sex is just as strong and capable of what men are. I tend to side with men in a lot of arguments, because I sometimes am embarrassed by what my side of the sex has become. I hate how girls can be. There is an episode of South Park that all the boys start acting like weird gorillas or something, because one of the girls in their class is starting to get breasts. And they all fight over her. Although that episode is awesome, I disagree with it. I have seen MORE women act like that when one guy is introduced to the group, then men when one girl is introduced to their group. When I started to have an actual group of girlfriends it didn’t last long for me because the very second I brought one of my guy-friend’s around they all acted like dogs fighting over a scrap of meat. I was scared dude. Like LITERALLY. lol. So when they make a strong female lead in a film more ‘sexy’, ‘attractive’ more…. ‘lady like’ I find it as an insult to my group of girls who like to focus on our personalities rather than our makeup and dresses. Examples: Juno (Ellen Page), Darlene (Roseanne), Scout (To Kill a Mockingbird), and so on. I love when girls like that are the lead, because it’s rare, AND because a guy like Jace ended up with a guy’s-gal instead of a typical girlie cheerleader like most men TRY to get. HOWEVER, it’s not a change in the movie that upsets me, I am willing to bypass it, because Lilly is a good actress, and maybe their chemistry will override the characteristics they are SUPPOSED to have. BUT when you accept one change… soon it’s another…. and then another…. and then another… so on and so on. It’s starts to become unnecessary. I think this is why so many book readers detest book to film adaptations… because they all tend to change soooo much from the story that it’s like they are STEALING it and trying to pass it off as their own…. am I making any sense or do I just sound whiny? LOL :P

I totally get that. When you read a book and have all these images filed away in your mind it’s hard to see the movie deviate from that. I always pictured Clary to be pretty. I just thought she was unassuming and hadn’t come in to her own yet. Sometimes people see more beauty in others than in themselves. Like she thought her mom was beautiful but maybe didn’t identify with that same beuty in herself. I think Lily will make a great Clary because she is beautiful but in a more natural way. I do think that her hair could have been redder, but that’s okay. I love her wardrobe from what we’ve seen so far. It reminds me of when I was in high school and grunge was everything. The boots, the plaid, the boy jeans. I love the whole look on her. Hopefully she dons a pair of converse at some point in the film. Anyway I don’t mind some details changing as long as it doesn’t wreck the integrity of the story. Like Alec being slightly older doesn’t bother me if they do that, but that being said would they take away his feelings for Jace? I think his infatuation with Jace is important so they can’t make him that much older or it might seem creepy. Then again Magnus is way older and that doesn’t matter. Anyway I just can’t wait to see how it all shakes out in the finished product!

I remember when Kevin Zegers was in Zoom and I was about 10 so I was madly in love with him but honestly, I just don’t see Alec. Plus, he’s supposed to be 17-18 and it’s going to take at least the next next 5 or 6 years to make the movies and Kevin is already 28. So, what happens if it takes lets say 7-8 years to film the movies; we’re gonna have a guy who’s almost 40 playing an 18 year old? I’m sorry it just bothers me a bit but I would prefer they keep him than have him in this one and then suddenly its a totally different actor.

Yeah I hate when they do that. Have you ever seen North and South with Patrick Swayze. It was a TV Movie Series, really good, but I HATE Book 2 of the series, because they changed a couple of actors and it just… irked me. I actually I take it back, I don’t hate the second half of the series, I just hate the scenes with the new actors. lol. I am worried about his age too, I feel that here he looks at least 25+ and Alec is actually 18, and I think 19 by the end of the series. So it just irks me a bit. But oh well, I am expecting it to not be so great, but I am also excited. I’ll be okay with a cruddy movie, because it’s not all that matters. The books are always better even when the movies are great. :D so at least the books are still there! :D
