No great shock here..we knew they would post Valentine today..surprised no Clary shot?? Love the ice blue eyes of steel. Not at all what I pictured when I read the books, but you know what..it still works for me.

  Oh god NOOO. I mean the actor himself is fine but letting him remain a brunette with bright blue eyes, which i might add is the EXACT opposite of what Valentine looks like is a big mistake. What really makes me mad is that there is a simple solution to all of this.
  Bleach the hair, get dark contacts and a suit. If they didn’t have Valentine displayed on the picture I would of never guessed it was Valentine at all. Everything from the way he looks to the way he’s dressed is wrong. Absolutely WRONG. I wouldn’t mind if they do decided to dye his hair and give him a suit in the 2nd movie. It”d make me overjoyed actually. His appearance is so important because it plays a key role on how people are easily convinced the jace is Valentines son because of the resemblance with their hair but now that Valentine is a brunette not only wont he resemble jace at all what about Johnathan Christopher? Valentine ACTUAL son. In the series his described to look exactly like his father blonde hair and black eyes. This leaves me extremely worried with who they will pick to play Johnathan morgenstern in the Immortal instruments.
  Which I might also add I think COLTON HAYNES WOULD BE AN AWESOME JOHNATHAN MORGENSTERN of course with the help of contacts and hair dye.

    That’s what I said. They look way too close in age. Jonathan is the SAME age as my Uncle Anthony. My uncle is only a little more than 10 years older than me. We hang out like best friends, or brother and sister, we don’t get along like an uncle and a niece should. He was a teenager when I was a kid, we played Mario 3 together on my Nintendo, I mean… sorry but we don’t treat each other like their is 10 years between us. And neither does anybody else with that age difference. Every time I tell someone I am 24 and my uncle just turned 35 they are like “Your uncle is YOOOOUUUUNG!!! Did your mom have you young?” No, we’re just all ten years apart, my mother from him, and him from me, and me from his daughter. When I got older, started to sprout breasts, and looked more like a women, his friends would crack jokes about dating me when I turned 18. Even though that would be weird, and would NEVER happen, technically if I wanted to date any of his friends, especially the ones that are just a little younger than him- like his best friend Rob. He’s only 31. I am 24. It really wouldn’t be a huge difference. I know Lilly is playing a 16 year old, but truthfully, she doesn’t look like a high school child in the least. She looks like she could pass off for 18 or 19, but that’s the youngest she looks to me. But she is 23, and since Hollywood has ABSOLUTELY NO BOUNDARIES she could totally date, and f**k Jonathan if she so pleased. Gross… I am sorry, but gross. I asked my Production Instructor and he agrees, he feels that maybe the director has crossed the line. And he’s never read the books, he already said he would cast someone at least 40 years old, and looks 40 years old…. or at least MAKE him look 40. So yeah I am sorry, but the BIGGEST let down in this production is Meyers, not Jamie, Lilly, Robert, or Jemima. But Jonathan. I know he’s a good actor, but so is Johnny Depp and Charlie and The Chocolate Factory was TERRIBLE!!!!!

      Exactly, I know anyone might counter that technically Lilly could date Hugh Hufner who is 86. YES, we know that, but everyone also knows that’s not exactly practical either. NO we’re not expecting actors to be the same age as the characters. Most of the time that never happens. lol. Our point is… if your boyfriend was hired in a play beside you as your father would you be okay with it? Let’s reverse it- if your FATHER was hired in a play beside you to be your lover would you be okay with it? I am pretty sure you would not. They basically hired Lilly’s big brother to play her pops. It would be FINE… if the Valentine’s character was described as young, adventurous, and possibly a teenage father. He and Jocelyn were about 19? maybe 20, when Jonathan was born, but a little older when Clary was born. I will assume they were between 23 and 25 years of age when Clary was born, making them 40 or older now. 40+ is the age my parents are in. I assume the same with your mother, and father since you said your uncle is 35, and each of you are 10+ years apart. Math only makes sense that your parents are in their 40s. Like I said, this all would be fine if Valentine was described as younger, more immature maaayyybe due to the fact he had children so young??? lol. I don’t know. But that’s not his description, not even close. I feel like they cheated their way out of it. The rest of the cast is okay, even Luke, I can picture Luke looking a little young for other reasons. But Valentine is unnacceptable. I don’t want to hear. “Talent this and talent that, wait for the movie to come out.” Oh shut up, Scrottie and I are having a discussion, last I checked I don’t live in a dictatiing country that tells me what I can and cannot discussed with an acquaintance. And obviously neither are any of you, because how are on the internet?… the middle east completely disconnected it during this Democracy war… which… half of you probably don’t know anything about that, unless you live near there. Americans are ignorant. Anyways, I am JUST saying I have a hunch, but I do… have a hunch… that maybe the movie might be alright, but Valentine won’t be acceptable. All I am saying is…. how hard is it to dye someone’s hair? His hair is brown, when it’s supposed to be white? Or… perhaps a wig? And why is he wearing a leather jacket with his shirt opened? Yeah, because I love hearing 14 year old gawk at the father in the movie, that is soooo appropriate… my dad walks around in his speedos all the time. He likes to look sexy, even around my baby sisters friends. I mean, c’mon!? How wrong is it that he’s dressing like Jace???????? The whole thing is…. wrong… and I mean wrong as in… “I found out some girl was having sex with her own father wrong” not wrong as in “that mathematical equation is wrong.” Sorry… I think I got carried away with this post…

        I agree with both of you. People who say looks don’t change a character are either retarded, or are in denial. if they made Harry Potter fat and blonde that would’ve COMPLETELY changed the character. The same way if they would’ve made Dudley thin and good looking. The reason why anyone bullies is because of low self esteem. Just like girls (or guys) who sleep around, they do it because they feel that is the only way they can get that kind of affection from someone. (Low self esteem) Unless they were sexually abused in their past, in that case it can go either way. They are either AFRAID of sex, or are addicted to it in some way… well maybe the word addicted might not be a good choice of word, but that’s the best I can come up with. And for the record I am not talking with ignorance, I learned that in college. Character is important, and if I ever meet the production crew outside my fantasy I won’t be afraid to tell them that… I will immediately say exactly what you said Josh… Valentine looks young enough to date Isabelle, or Maia…. sorry… not exactly easy for the audience to see past… I mean… does he live under a rock?

  Great picture. This Valentine is a lot sexier that I had imagine in my head. The eyes are gorgeous and the intensity is awesome, almost unsettling in the best possible way. Could they have given him the trademark white hair (or even platinum)? Yes, I think he would have looked incredible, but that’s okay he has convey the crazy intensity while still displaying some of his former charisma. Afterall that’s how he won over Jocelyn and all the others. They were drawn to him. I think Jonathan looks like he could lure people in to his tangled web! Very cool. I love the caption of Happy Me Day because that really just sums him up. He’s so caught up in his own ideas and objectives that he allienates everyone who once loved him, to the point of self destruction. Can i just say that his movie needs to come out now!!!!
