Shadowhunter Radio song of week: Power of Love by Gabrielle Alpin

I hope everyone will look at this song and artist.  I think this could be a beautiful song for Jace & Clary! It is not the typical well known song  “Power of Love” .    I totally love these lyrics my favorite is this:

I’ll  protect you from the hooded claw
Keep the vampires from your door
When the chips are down
I’ll be around
With my undying death-defying love for you
Envy will hurt itself Let  yourself be beautiful
Sparkling light, flowers and pearls and pretty  girls
Love is like an  energy
Rushing in, rushing inside  of me….

These lyrics just scream Jace with his undying death -defying love for Clary.   I love that this artist is young, she is only 20 years old and would love to see a young artist on the soundtrack.  Since 2010, Aplin has released three EPs and toured the UK and Europe.

Wow, that was beautiful! I really love the haunting, ethereal quality. And the lyrics are really fitting. I tend to think of the soundtrack in terms of edgy alternative music because of the style of the books and all the action involved, but there needs to be those quieter moments too where the vulnerability and emotion of the characters can be felt. This song would be great in the mix. Also it reminds of Sarah McLachlan’s earlier work. Very beautiful. Great choice!
