Jonathan Rhys Meyers Is Our Valentine

Jonathan is not one most would call a veteran, however he does have a few projects under his belt.  Acting pretty steadily since 1994 he is most known for his role on Tudors.  I remember him from August Rush and he was one of my favorite parts in the movie.

I could see him as Valentine, truthfully I pictured someone older, but I am going with the flo on this one.  At this stage of the game alls we can do is trust that the casting directors have a master plan somewhere??

You gotta love the having sex with you sister comment!  It’s like TMI was in his future!!

There was a very cute interview with him on Ellen which  was more recent, but the picture was way too blurry, the audio was good for those of you who want to check it out.

Here’s what I got from the interview:

He dropped out of school when he was 15.

He does a great Woody Allen impersonation!

He said the sex scenes in Tudors were best described like having sex in the middle of a Walmart!

  • YES!!! My internet has been down for a month and I am THRILLED, THRILLED, THRILLED for Jonathan play Valentine! He’s one of my favorite actors to of all time. Sure, do I hate the villain? Of course. But Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Valentine? AWESOME. I think he’ll embody the role of Clare’s badboy very nicely.

  • Kerri

Jeez guys, I didnt mean to set you all off. Your right, I know nothing about the industry. I only know what I read in magazines or read on forums like this. But I like JRM and only hope the best for the film. I’ll say no more since Im such an idiot.

    • joshQ

It’s not that you’re an idiot, it’s just that you came on all strong for no real particular reason. If people don’t like him that should be fine, and if people like the dude, then fine. But for the fact that everyone is getting so worked up over a couple of people who are disappointed because they feel he’s too young, or not good enough is just ridiculous. The fact is he doesn’t match Valentine in the least bit, that’s what it boils down to. Now make-up and acting help change that, yes. But you have to be careful with young actors playing an older person. If you have to spend too much time on the make up it’ll look obviously fake. The only way I’ll approve of him is if when the film is released that he looks absolutely nothing like himself. Like a whole completely different person, much like tom cruise looked in Tropic Thunder, as well as Robert Downey Jr. I don’t want to know it’s even him when I watch.

“JRM may not have white hair for God sake but Hollywood is known for transforming people.”

It was like you were implying that we were being stupid because you assumed we meant we didn’t like that he didn’t already have white hair, when in fact, no one said that. We were saying that we couldn’t “Picture” it. That it was hard to “imagine” him with the white hair. And then Jack said they may or may not even dye his hair. Which they might not, we don’t know for sure until we actually see it dyed.

And you said that B-Listers would be more passionate and dedicated. Just cause they’re lower on the scale does not mean they work harder. Babe, the reason the A-Listers are A-Listers is because they work extremely hard. So it was the way that you came on so damn strong in your post when no one was really even being hostile in this post at all. Some agreed, some disagreed but for the most part we were all just getting along fine voicing our opinions, and for some reason you just got really mad at some of us for some reason. I don’t know, maybe you were just having a bad day or something. So all we were doing was defending ourselves and our Favorite best time actors. That’s all we were doing…

  • joshQ

Okay, let’s make one thing clear. I am not looking down upon an actor for not being an A-Lister, I will give you all credit and assume that text does not make it easy to read someone! However, in my opinion, I don’t know how any clearer I can be. So let me dumb it down… I DO NOT think that just because an Actor is not an A-Lister is unworthy of this film. I am only simply stating that it is UNPROFESSIONAL and too RISKY to jump the gun on hiring an actor without any knowledge of how it will work. It’s like how some employers who NEVER interview their staff upon hire and wonder why they constantly get sh*tty workers! It’s the same damn crap. I NEVER felt that a C-Lister or even a D-Lister does not have the chance, nor the talent to be apart of ANY film. I was only stating that it bothers me that they rather ASSUME it will work, rather than test it out. Actually READ ALL of my comments. I simply stated in one of them that no matter WHO the celebrity is, whether it’d be Leonardo DiCaprio, or Gene Hackman MOST directors make them SCREEN TEST to see if they FIT. THE. ROLE!!! That is ALL I am saying. So quit putting words in my mouth, and acting as if I don’t know what I am talking about. Not to mention, how many of you really have worked on a film production…..?

    Listening……

    *crickets chirp*

    Yeah, that’s what I thought.

I am not saying I am an EXPERT at this, I am ONLY stating what I have learned about the industry THUS FAR!!!! Get your heads out of your asses!

    • Andy

Dude, if I were standing next to you, we’d have drinks on me! I think what some people do is if they see someone who is disproving of something, their brain immediately springs into action, like a Snake when its spooked. So no matter how smart you are, or even how right you are, without even trying to be “Right” they’re going to do the instinct and knock you down a notch just because you thought differently than that particular person. Because you make a valuable point that makes perfect sense, they hate that. And they hate it because they don’t want you to be right. Which in some senses, yeah, I can see why. But because this is basically High School on the internet they’re going to keep trying to knock you down, because you knock them down without even trying…. I hope that made sense… I am sleep deprived…. been working all day, and all night and I am just confused as *BEEP* right now. hehehehe

      • Jersey

ah do I sense a bromance between you two??? HA HA HA where’s Jack you guys can have a threesome!! :)

        • joshQ

WHOA! Ummm… yeah I don’t role that way. Although, thanks for the support Andy. Bromance is one thing, but butt sex is a whole other.

        • Jack

Thanks for throwing me in there Jersey hahaha. Well guys i must say I’m a tad deflated with how this production has gone, but i just found out Steven Spielberg will direct “Robopocalypse”, so that’s just extremely awesome.

      • Scrottie

Josh don’t leave! =”( I like having dudes on the site. It levels me out, man!

        • joshQ

I never said I was leaving. I said that I will probably be too busy. I wont have much time to spare once school starts, which I assume you wont either. I will have classes beginning at 9AM til about 2pm, and then I work from 5 til 1:30am. I did manage to get weekends off at work. But I will either be studying, or having a social life. However, I can try and squeeze in a comment here and there. I assume most of your friends are guys?

          • scrottie

Grew up around all boys, teenage boys to be exact, when I was little. And I just seem to communicate better with guys, but I think it’s because my humor is very much like a guys. I don’t get offended very easily. Here’s an example, my friend John, he calls me a “GigaWap” you get it right? I know most people would call him a racist, but I think that is the most creative freaking nickname I have ever heard…. hahah. But most of my guys call me “Smalls”

          • joshQ

Okay, I had to google the WAP part, but I knew immediately what Giga was… hehehehe XP that is freaking Hil-ar-ious! I agree, that’s the freaing BEST nickname I have ever heard in my time. But why do they call you smalls? Was that an intended joke, or…?

          • Scrottie

No, I was just being conversational. They call me Smalls, because… well.. I am small. lol We were all talking about the Sandlot and one of the guys said “You’re killing me, Smalls.” and my best friend, Noah, was like Oh God that is so perfect! I am calling you that from now on! lol So Noah started calling me Smalls, and soon before I knew it, all the guys started calling me Smalls, even my ex boyfriend started to call me it, and still does. So yeah, that’s my more frequent nickname, but my friend John was the only one who called me GigaWap, or JigaWap or however you spell it. Anyways. It’s nearly 12, and I have laundry cause I have a road trip tomorrow. So I need my sleep.

          • joshQ

It’s spelt Jiggaboo, but I pretty much figured it out on my own. lol

  • zara

I watched him in tudors and he looks too young but he does know how to act so it might just work out.oh and I don’t care whether they are A-listers or C-listers as long as they are good.

  • Andy

I don’t know, we’ll see. Not too happy bout it, but whatever. Not much we can do, not that I would do much anyways. But I am shocked at how well people are conversing on this post :) ….. well except for one. but it looks like Josh made quite an impression last time ;) :)

  • GeeGee

TBH, I can’t picture him as Valentine just like I couldn’t picture Jamie as Jace. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. If it turns out well, that’s great but if it doesn’t, not much we can do.

Still wish they had picked someone like Paul Bettany instead.

  • Kerri

Im honestly aghast by most of these comments. If any of you have seen JRM in Tudors you’d understand why I’m THRILLED that he’s Valentine. I’ll be honest, I originally wanted Paul Bettany for Valentine, but this is mostly a B film to all of your precious A-list actors who frankly would rather be in bigger, better paying films. I like that their using B-list actors because they’ll be much more passionate and dedicated. They’ll try harder to please the fans woth our ridiculous expectations. JRM may not have white hair for God sake but Hollywood is known for transforming people. Im sure it’ll all work out. Besides… I trust Cassie Clare. Period.

    • scrottie

No one is fighting on here, but THIS will start a fight. THIS is when fights start. I can practically hear your tone. And for your information, they would NOT rather be in bigger better films. Not all of them are like that. So STOP making a judgement on us, just because we have an opinion. NO ONE on this board is fighting, everyone is having a civil conversation. THIS is what starts fighting, when you come on here, with a huge nasty attitude. I am glad you’re thrilled, but is there anything wrong with some of us who want the best? NO! “Aghast by most of these comments” Where in the hell are you seeing people insult this guy like the way everyone was insulting Jamie on this post?????????????????????????????????????? WE KNOW they can dye hair, stop talking to me or anyone else like we’re stupid. Some of us were just saying that PICTURING it doesn’t look good. And actually I finally surrendered to the idea of him looking good white white hair. Why are you getting such a nasty attitude??????? There is no reason for it. Chill out!!!! Jesus Christ!

      • scrottie

        P.S. Ryes Myers is a C-LISTER not B!!!

        • joshQ

So quick to call this movie a B listing when it hasn’t even started shooting yet? OKay first of all, I am not going to be nice anymore so here it goes. First off, stop trying to sound like you know what you are talking about when it comes to grade scale in the Production Industry, you weren’t sounding the most intelligent just now. Especially since the film is not even remotely close to having a ciritc rating since there is barely ANY production on it yet!!!! Secondly, apparently you know everything there is to know about the Industry because A-List actors NEVER take low budget films according to you. According to you that NEVER happens. Look at the first Harry Potter film, low budget. Maggie Smith is in it, but she must be stuck up and only wants to be in bigger better films as you so put it. Morgan Freeman and Ben Kinglsey were in low budget film Lucky Number Sleven. Didn’t make a big box office hit, nor were they expecting one. But A-Listers NEVER take low budget films. Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry, and Hugh Jackman in Xmen, first film = Low budget A-LIST ACTORS. Natalie Portman was in Your Highness, low budget funny cheap film. Natalie Portman is an A-LISTER!!!!! Incase you don’t know she won Best Actress at the Oscars for Black Swan. Need I say more??????????? Also where in any of these posts did anyone say they were upset that he doesn’t have white hair? we KNOW he could dye his hair, we were just saying that he may or may not look good with white hair. WTF crawled up your ass and died????????????

          • Scrottie

As much as I want to tell you “Amen” for what you wrote Josh, I still have to lecture you too. When I said “THIS will start fights” You writing a response only proved me right, which in this case I rather NOT be right. I am sure she’ll come back and snap right back, especially cause you wrote back in anger, which I can understand. But I am just saying that everyone needs to be the bigger person here, after I said that “THIS is what starts fights” that sends out a que for everyone to just drop it. You get what I’m saying, right? :(

          • joshQ

No… you’re right. I’m sorry. It’s just… and I am only just saying this as an observation… it’s almost like she was annoyed because some of us know how the production industry actually works, or more so that YOU actually know what you’re talking about and seemed more annoyed at that fact, rather than that we disprove of the actor. Which either way is no reason to get mad. So we rather have a more experienced actor, and someone who’s a little older? Is that a sin or something? What is wrong with that?

          • scrottie

Actually I never fully disproved of him. NO, if I were involved he would NOT have been my choice for Valentine. I probably would’ve called Daniel Craig, Stephen Moyer, I wish Malcolm McDowel was younger or else he’d be PERFECT!!! But I think he’s too old. I think I would’ve tried Leonardo DiCaprio, Ralph Fiennes… F*** yeah! Maybe even Clive Owen, I can sort of see it, but acting it? Most definitely! OH and you know who else would be good? Billy Zane! I’ve heard him with accents, and he is more of a C-Lister in popularity, but an A-Lister in talent! I just disproved of Jonathan cause I always assumed they would’ve chose someone who was at least 40 years old. Despite all the wonderful make up jobs, sometimes make up isn’t always convincing. It depends, really. I loved August Rush, but I agreed that he wasn’t the best actor in the movie. But I don’t think he was bad either. He didn’t have very many lines anyways. So… kind of sucked for him. But thanks for understanding, lol I was afraid you would get mad at me for that one. But I understand where you are coming from too.

          • joshQ

Yeah it’s cool, I get it. You make a good point, as for Malcolm McDowel… wholly SH*T! That would’ve been amazing. But he’s more of a grandpa than a father of a 16 year old. But still.. that is… I can’t even say it lol

    • Liz

@Kerri, I get your frustration, really I do. But How can you trust CC when she’s a novel writer, and not a film producer. So technically this wouldn’t be her area of expertise. And actually I don’t trust her, she can’t even get the description of her own characters correct. I don’t mean to be mean, but c’mon. That’s why you keep notes, and when you are asked questions you pull them out. That’s what I was always taught. You also pull them out and study them for interviews and such. And at one pint Scrottie bought out a good point, she’s agreeing to EVERYHING they’re doing which I find to be impossible. How can it be THAT perfect in her eyes???? I highly doubt she is being 100% honest with any of us. There HAS to be at least ONE thing she disproves of. Like seriously! There’s no such thing as perfect. If she’s happy with the actor choices that’s cool and all, but is she happy with the talent? the direction? etc etc. There is just no way it is that perfect, no author in history who has had their books adapted to film who said the film was perfect. There’s no such thing as perfect. there’s always going to be at least ONE thing you disprove of. And so far she’s just smiling and nodding.

      • Jersey

I agree with you Liz I am sure most authors have issues with some of the casting choices, but have you ever heard any of them pipe up and say WTF?? I think where she is coming from is she had this baby, she handed it over knowing she would have no control over what happens next, and she is just happy to be asked anything at all.. they could keep her out of the loop all together. And seeing as she knows she had not power to change their deicsions what good would it do to cause and uproar over their choices? I mean truth so,fully she wants the movie to be successful, so why on earth would she vocally show any distaste for what they are doing? So it’s not so much lying as it is knowing it’s usesless to protest. Plus if it were me I would just be happy the film was being made after all the starts and stops.

        • Scrottie

I don’t think what Liz is saying is that she should stand her ground and fight, she is saying that she should just be honest. No harm came from being honest. And actually Jersey, plenty of writers have fought for their books in films. Stephen King and JK Rowling fought a little bit for Harry Potter. And even if she didn’t, or didn’t have any say no matter what, she was still HONEST. I need to find my book… The Stand. Stephen King wrote this LONG letter on like… the first page of the damn book, talking about how HE would’ve made the movie, and how HE would’ve chose the actors, and how HE thinks this isn’t even his best book, meanwhile all his fans disagree. She’s saying that CC just needs to speak her opinion. She doesn’t need to fight it, just be honest. Maybe we all ADORE the actor playing Simon, while she seriously does not like the choice. There’s nothing wrong with that. There are going to be times when the fans will disagree with the Author, there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s normal. I think she should just be honest. It has nothing to do with her fighting for the movie. Just give an opinion and be done with it. That’s all.

          • Jersey

hey if you haven’t voted for will yet it’s very close…go vote now if you can I can’t figure out how to vote again.

          • Jersey

yes I know what she is saying but how do we know CC doesn’t like the actors they have chosen. No one knows how she feels but her. And I being a diehard Cassandra Clare supporter and fan just don’t agree with someone calling her dishonest. If anything she has tried to keep us as informed as the studio will allow. What I was trying to get across is perhaps CC is just a glass half full type of person. Would that be soo hard to believe. BTW Will lost the crush tournament which it yet another shining example to Kristen why Jace is better than Will!!! HA HA HA HAH HA although I hate the fact that another TMI character will not hold the crown as YA Summer Crush this year! Oh well..

          • Scrottie

No one’s calling her dishonest, maybe she is what Dane Cook calls those overly annoying optomistic people. What Liz is saying is you can’t go by her since this isn;t even her area of Expertise. And it’s not. As a matter of fact I find it easier to write a book than making a movie. You have LIMITS LIMITS LIMITS LIMITS LIMITS LIMITS. With writing you have Limits too, but with films you have to fit EVERYTHING you can into a generalization of an hour and 38 minutes. But a book goes on and on and on explaining as much and being as in depth as it can. I just find it to be unlikely and actually she is the first author that I have encountered who is OCD about her books. Even VC Andrews who had a ghost writer quit the production of Flowers In The Attic and refused to have any part in it. I don’t see any passion. coming from my mother who is a VERY passionate and devote writer, she agrees. Besides we’re going right back to what Josh said. So just because she disproved something it’s automatically a “Negative” opinion????????????? Whoever said that just because she disproves of something that it makes it Negative??????????? If she were to bluntly state “Eh… I would’ve preferred blank blank blank but oh well, what are gonna do” you are going to dub her as negative? That alone in itself is a negative view point….

          • Jersey

okay you lost me but I’m too tired to think about it anymore. so how long before we start seeing productions shots or props or something?? will they release any pics of what the actors will look like once they have them done up as their characters??

          • Jersey

oh and I just reread Liz’s comment again and if someone is not being 100% honest then you are saying they are being dishonest so yes she was. 1% not honest even is still dishonest.

          • Scrottie

So… are you calling CC dishonest? Or… Liz dishonest? or…. what? And to make something clear I was missing words in my last post. I meant to say that CC is the first Author I encountered to NOT be OCD about her films. Don’t sell them to a production company if you don’t want to lose any control. If I ever write a novel- unless Spielberg, or Cameron is doing the movie, I will refuse to sell it, because 8 times out of 10, most book-to-film adaptations suck. As for promos, I can’t say they can come out as soon as they’re done filming, before they film after make up and whatnot. Or they may delay everything. While we’re still in Pre-Production there’s no telling… pretty anything. The film could still be cancelled while in pre-production… or even when in filming. It all depends on the length, time, money, and blah blah blah. Too much to tell

          • Jersey

no I wasn’t calling CC dishonest , I was still referring to Liz comment. She said that CC was not be 100% honest to us about her feelings. so I commented , then you said I don’t think anyone is calling her dishonest while explaining what Liz was trying to say, and then I said if you reread the comment Liz is basically calling CC dishonest. so tha was what that was all about. anyway who cares eveeryone has a right to their opinion..but I agree i don’t think I would want to hand over all rights to my book if I ever wrote either.

          • joshQ

I think what Scrottie meant was, that they don’t mean to “insult” her. You were implying that they were calling her dishonest in a insulting way. And honestly I am sure she is being dishonest. Not saying CC is a bad person, or hell, even a bad Author even though there are much better ones out there. Just saying that it’s a little bit of selling out when you agree to see the rights to a film production and then let them basically analy rape you out of your book and you say absolutely nothing. JK Rowling didn’t have that much control over the HP movies either, but sometimes she would say something, and they actually took her word for it. But for the most part it’s not that JK fought for her books, she stayed “true” to them. So when fans asked her an honest question like, “In the movie Hermione punched Malfoy, but in the book she smacked him. I don’t understand, why change something so small?” and JK writes. “Film production is a very complex career, changing something that small in a production only benefits the production not the books. I prefer it if Hermione smacked Malfoy rather than punch him, because she is not the type of girl to get into fist fights in the middle of school halls. She’s the level headed one, she keeps her anger on a level of control, while Ron and Harry are typical teenage boys who will throw a slug or two out of anger. That’s why Hermione only slapped Malfoy in my books, it was a way of telling him to go sit in the corner” I think that’s what Liz and Scrottie are trying to say. She doesn’t need to speak up against the film production. She doesn’t even need to “Want” to. But when WE as the fans ask a question than it’s her job as our idol to answer honestly….

  • liz

You know, I finally figured out why I just can’t see him with white hair. He looks hispanic. Mostly in the first pic. Not that hispanics can’t get white haired when they get older or anything, but in the way they’d have to do it, he may look weird. lol

    • Scrottie

That is sooooooo funny!!!! It’s actually kind of weird that he’s playing Valentine, because a few weeks ago when True Blood’s 5th season first started, I kept on thinking that Lafayette’s boyfriend, Jesus was Jonathan Ryes Myers. But I never got around to actually looking it up because they look sooooooooo much alike. And Jesus is hispanic. Seriously everyone, look up Kevin Alejandro him and Jonathan could be twins!!!!!!!!!!!! Kevin has a little more weight in his face, and that’s pretty much it. OH and the 3rd pic of Jonathan makes him look like a very young Malcolm McDowell!!! So now I can actually picture him with white hair. lol XP

      • torontogirl98

I was totally thinking that the other day, watching TB and looking at JRM pictures!

      • liz

Love True Blood, I remember when you suggested Joe whose Alcide to play Luke way back. That would’ve been cool if he got Luke. Although, he’s already a dedicated wolf for a whole other franchise hahaha :P Although is it me or is Alcide really pissing me off? I guess it’s really Eric’s fault since he glamoured Alcide into feeling digusted by Sookie. Eric the JERK. I was soooooo looking forward to some Sookie/Alcide action. Oh well, I guess that’s why I really like the show. It’s FULL of surprises! They lead us all on making it like Alcide and Sookie were going to totally hook up this season, *sigh* I guess not. :( And Bill!!!! OH MY GOD!!! what the hell is the matter with him?????? OH, And I was going to write to you about that by the way, I just forgot. I think Stephen Moyer would’ve been an AWESOME!!!! Valentine. And the ONLY thing I’ve seen Stephen in is True Blood as Bill, and that alone is some pretty insane acting… the whole dang show is insane!!!!! haha But Yeah Jesus and Jonathan look SO MUCH alike!!!! It’s freaky!!!! Yeah everyone, go look him up like Scrottie said. you’ll be like “ARE THEY BROTHERS???” I am sure they’re not since they both have entirely different names. haha but still.

        • scrottie

Yeah, Eric’s a jerk, but what else is new? Haha, he’s always a jerk, but that’s why he’s my favorite. He’s like a darker, more sinister version of Jace! But right now I feel so bad for Eric. :( I hope he eats Nora, I didn’t like her the second she showed up. And it’s NOT because he was having sex with her and not Sookie. Eric has sex with everyone LOL. I just had a bad feeling about that brat from the beginning. Baad feeling. And Bill? He’s ALWAYS had the potential to get like this. Rewatch all the seasons, there are little hints here and there that show his inner devil! You’ll see. I still love Bill, and think he is one of the hottest older men of Hollywood, EVER. haha, but I have always had a bad feeling about him too. SO bad that I thought he was the vampire that killed Sookie’s parent’s. OKay, enough about TB this is about TMI! LOL Sorry, I just needed to get that off my chest. I don’t have very many people who watch the show with me. :( so I can’t talk about it. OH and one more thing TB related…. I can TOTALLY do a great Bill Compton impression! I have the strongest urge to record a video of me doing it, but I am too scared to do it! hahaha XP and Torontogirl haha see? They’re like long lost brothers or something, aren’t they? hahah it’s so weird. XP

          • joshQ

I’m going to have to get into this True Blood. Twilight pretty much ruined the whole subgenre for me. I have been basically sick of this vampire fad that Twilight started, especially since they made vampires into pussies. You mentioned Interview With The Vampire before? Dude, both Brad Pitt, and Tom Cruise as Loui and Lestat could DESTROY both Edward AND Jacob… but most of all. Motherf***in’ Westly Snipes as Blade! BOOYAH! But I have had some friends tell me that True Blood is different, that the vampires are actually raw and nasty like they used to be.

          • scrottie

Dude, I would NOT tell you it’s good if it wasn’t. I have been trying to convert people to True Blood now. Hahaha. My mom watches it, and TRUST ME my mom usually HATES stuff like this. Like to the point that she wont even watch five minutes of something, she wont even give it a chance. But I was watching it one day, and so she just ended watching it and now she is just as hooked as I am. She got one of her friends hooked to it too. She said, and I quote “I used to be a Twilight fan, but then I watched True Blood and… wooooo there is sh*t goin on in THAT show!” hahaha she’s like the coolest grandma ever! I also got my friend Justine to convert from Twilight to True Blood, but she doesn’t watch it regularly like I do. She waits till the seasons over then downloads it and like stays up all night to watch every episode. LOL so I can’t talk about it with her, she’s like. “STOP!!! DON”T TELL ME ANYTHING!!!” lol And finally I got one of my guy-friend’s into it. and his exact words about True Blood were “An Orgasm for your eyes!” ;)

          • joshQ

Wow! haha Sounds like soft porn? hahaha Sounds awesome to me. I guess I’ll give it a try. If it’s better than Twilight, and the vampires are actually vampires, sure. I give it a shot. LOL

          • torontogirl98

I hate Bill so much right now, I have always found him a little odd looking but I can’t quite put my finger on why. But it is the current plot with them locked in the basement that is driving me bonkers. And it is a little like porn at times lot of graphic sex and nudity way more grown up!

          • Scrottie

I know!!! Bill is such a… AAAHHHHHHH! I just want to punch him so hard! haha. But Eric has always been my favorite, I don’t know what it is about him, but there is just something about him that makes him even ten times more attractive than he appears. I think it’s the way he hides his humanity behind his dark facade? I don’t know, I have just always loved Eric! LOL

          • joshQ

Hm… sounds right up my ally. haha :P

          • Jersey

for God sake True Blood is soft porn!! I tried to get into it but only got like 2 1/2 episodes in and I couldn’t watch anymore?? Don’t know why I love Vampire stuff always have. I think the biggest thing was I did not find Bill remotely attractive and I hated the way he said Sookie’s name.

          • Scrottie

Hahahaha, you have no idea how funny it is that you don’t like the way Bill says Sookie’s name. It’s like one of the “Truebie” jokes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQC3JYvD4Dc hahahaha Oh C’mon Amy, you should watch just a little bit more, I bet you would fall in love with Eric. He reminds me a lot of Jace’s characterONly more dark, and quiet. But when his inner sweetness comes out you’re like “Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww” hahahaha. Or maybe you would fall in love with either Sam the Shape Shifter or Alcide the Wolf. Alcide is HOT but he’s a giant teddy bear! LOL XP

          • Jersey

maybe if I can find someone who owns the seasons on dvd. one of my “friends” talked me into watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer(series) she said I had to watch it, it was awesome. I watched all of season one which blew and I was 5 episodes into season 2 and it sill blew and then I somehow forgot to renew and I ended up with a $4 late fee for one of the suckiest shows I have ever watched. So now I’m ticked at the late fee but besides that a week is not enough time to watch a season and seeing as it is soft porn I would have to wait until my kids were asleep to watch it. So we’ll have to see what I can work out on that front.

          • Scrottie

No I agree Buffy SUCKED it was lame, and poorly produced. It looked so fake!!!! X( But yeah I say you borrow it or something, don’t rent it. Renting just drains your wallet, no matter how good the movie is. Why don’t you get Netflix? It’s so cheap, and you can order as many DVD’s as you want without any late charge. Whatever works. =)

          • Jersey

we had netflix before they changed how they worked it. that’s how I watched the first couple episodes of True Blood in the first place. I will ask around someone might own it. Do you buy them. You do know Walmart had them on uber sale say after thanksgiving last year. you could pick up a whole season ondvd for like $10. Me and another girl parked ourselves in front of the display until midnight when they took the shrink wrap off and allowed us to buy what we wanted. she wanted True Blood I wanted Vampire Diaries Second Season, of which there was only one copy!! But I got it :)

          • scrottie

Yeah I was so mad when they changed their crap. I don’t have the DVD plan, I just have the Instant Que plan for my Xbox 360, and they don’t have anything from HBO on there :( DAMN I want to know if there are any more Emoticons. :( anyways, yeah it makes me so sad that they don’t do that on Instant Que, but aw well. LOL Maybe you should buy it then sell it if you don’t like it? hahah no I wouldn’t even do that. I actually ummm download them… yeeeeaaah. hehehehehehe I’ve become a little addicted to doing that. I forgot to mention Jason. He is soooooooooooo cute. and Hot too, but he’s more cute than hot because he’s just so sweet. I like when they find out that there are Werewolves, and Jason’s like…

            Jason: “So there are werewolves?”
            Sookie: “Yup”
Jason: ” What about big foot? He real too?”
            Sookie: “I don’t know, I guess it’s possible.”
            Jason: “… Santa?”
            Sookie: “Jason! Focus!”

hahaha it was so cute. And he said it like a little kid too. XP Actually I just realize that in the beginning Eric isn’t so much like Jace, when his hair is long. I don’t know if you would like Eric with long hair, I did, but I love it short for some reason. After Eric cuts his hair he tends to act a little like Jace a lot of the time.

          • torontogirl98

Buffy is one of thoose shows that was good in its day, it is from a different time and really cannot be compared to TB. Buffy is not my thing but my older sister loves it more than anything and still watches reruns on Tv every week.

  • Ellie

From all the pics i’ve seen of this guy. He looks way too young to play Valentine.

  • jane

Hey Josh Q, do your research. Jared Harris has not been nominated for an Oscar to my knowledge. He was nominated for an Emmy, as was Jonathan Rhys Meyers. He has also been nominated for a few other awards usually as part of a group cast. Rhys Meyers has won a Golden Globe award and nominated twice more. He was nominated for and won a number of other awards for both film and television work. Shouldn’t judge actors by this kind of thing but if we are, Rhys Meyers is the most decorated actor in the cast.

    • Jersey

you do realize he is going to come at you with both guns blazin now, right?? Good luck..but I do like the fact that JRM has earned his props and you have pointed them out…(runs and hides in corner)

    • joshQ

Why is everyone assuming that I am a stuck up bastard just because I don’t like the idea of hiring someone without an interview first… see comment at top….

      • Jersey

hey no one called you anything but I gotta say isn’t it more fun to comment then just to skulk around the sire for a year not saying anything. let’s get ready to rrrummmmmmmmbbbbllllleeeee!!!!!!!!!11

        • joshQ

It doesn’t need to be said it was simply implied. And to answer your question, no. In about a week I start my final semester of school I will soon disappear because I will be busy with work, and school. And for the fact that it is my last semester, adding rent, and b*tchy roommates to the plate, as well as antagonizing parents I will probably be too stressed to care about an insignificant film. Don’t get me wrong, I have my favorites, hence my Star Wars Collection. I will not sell them even if I were starving. However, I can still live without the news, the hype, and even the film itself. It’s really no big deal.

          • Jersey

            well, you will be missed!

          • joshQ

I get the feeling I annoyed you, all because I said that I will soon be too busy for the site and the film. Why, may I ask, the hostility?

          • Jersey

what?? not annoyed at all I wanted to let you know you will be missed and seeing as it’s hard to type sincerity in a post I went with the exclamation point. No really, I would miss you if you disappeared. I,like Scrottie, like the male presence on the site. There isn’t much of one as you can see and you guys balance it out. Your like the big brothers on the site. even though your probably all in your 20′s but still. so no not hostility at all. now you have me curious, why would you take that as hostile?

          • joshQ

lol No, not to sound Sexist in the least, but sometimes women tend to be hiding a little bit of anger in their very blunt and short statements. My ex did that a lot so now I kind of prepare myself for an oncoming bomb, just incase. That’s why I took it as hostility, but you’re probably living on the other side of the country, which I forget, so I a sure it was later for you than me, and you were just tired. I think it was only about 10:45ish my time around the time I answered you… I think. I’m too lazy to scroll up and actually look. I have to go, as a matter of fact. I need to pick up books for classes today, then I have to go to verizon and b*tch them out. Then I have to drive to Aurora to visit with family. I love them and all, but I’d much rather stay home :(

    • scrottie

@Jane Okay, see? This is what I call immaturity. He is clearly just simply stating his opinion, and here you are looking like a b*tch. People who want to come and sound rude, obnoxious, and insulting, just stop right now. Cause regardless of the fact that many disagree about acting choices, we were getting along fine until peeps like you showed up. So let’s all be freaking mature and get over it. Jeesh

  • joshQ

As far as talent goes, no not really. As far as looks go: the opposite. Maybe it will work out, maybe it wont. So far the best on the adult list is Jarred Harris, and Lena Headey. I still think Lena could be a little older. The fact that she comes off as someone who has a toddler or maybe a ten year old bothers me. It’s hard to picture her as a mother of a teen daughter. But I’m fine with her because technically Jocelyn and Luke are only like 35ish. I don’t like the one playing Luke because he’s only 1 year older than one of our teens in this film. That’s just…. very unusual. And don’t say it isn’t. If he was five years or more older, I would like him. Zegers is fine because he looks young, and he may just be another Michael J Fox. However, that is not fact. You can’t depend on that for a franchise. But the biggest reason why I disprove of this guy the most more than any one on this list is because they’re just picking people at this point. There is no screen testing, or chemistry testing. They’re basically just thinking as they go, and you CAN’T do that in a production, you just can’t! I would be fine with it, if they chose someone who has an extraordinary background. Even some of the BEST actors out there still have to audition or screen test in order to prove good working chemistry. Not all actors are made for a role. Some of the best actors may not be able to portray every single character they come up against, as well as someone who was actually made for it. THAT’S what’s upsetting me. They’re just assuming this will work just because they’re adults. You can’t do that! You have to test EVERYTHING. So my conclusion is… the movie wont be great, NOT because of the actors, but because this director has absolutely no idea what he is doing…..

    • Scrottie

Thank you for the comment about the A-Listers. Everyone has a right to have an opinion or to be positive, but DON’T downgrade the ACTUAL Veterans just because it makes you feel better about the choices. Most veterans don’t even need to be looked over, they can do it. Enough said. They have had YEARS of experience. Spielberg was told when he applied for film school to just “give up, because he’ll probably get drafted to war anyways”. As for Screen Tests, you’re right. They usually do plenty of Screen Testing. The Director of The Social Network was HARD on Justin Timberlake. He actually said something like “Just because the kid is already famous through his music doesn’t automatically make him an expert actor! He needs to prove it first!” They put him through screen test, after screen test, after screen test, before finally giving him the part. And I must say, Justin Timberlake has definitely surprised me with his acting abilities, he is quite good. And I think he will work his way up to become an A-Lister one day. Which is an honor! So you’re right, Screen Testing IS important no matter WHO the celebrity is. However, it’s not like there hasn’t been instances where before the film is even discussed with a company where a writer or director will IMMEDIATELY seek out a certain actor, not only to be in the particular role they want him/her for, but for their support as well. Which usually it’s RARELY anything but an A-Lister someone calls. But not always. Josh Hartnett has read a written script before ANY kind of funding of any kind had gotten their hands on it. It’s like a persons’ back up. You know what I mean? I am SERIOUS everyone NEEDS to watch Entourage. It’s the ONLY way any of you are going to see film production in action! Buy it, rent it, freaking get HBO!!!! Somehow you NEED to watch… also… that show is freaking BADASS!!! LOL XP

  • Jodygus

I’m on board with this also. Going to wait and see, the movie will tell the tale. I’ve got to be a believer. He is very nice to look at also. I don’t think I have seen him play such a villian role before it should be interesting.

  • Ashley D

I was kinda iffy on Jace being played by Jamie but we’ll just have to see. I think he is good in all that I’ve seen him in so far but he’s just not what I pictured body wise as Jace. Hopefully he’s bulked up a little bit :D I think it’s going to be good. I think that using these actors/actresses is a good choice cause the only ones I really know a little about is Jamie, Lily, and Kevin. I didn’t want a big bunch of super famous or super popular for this movie.

    • joshQ

Why? You would rather risk it with amateurs than with people who are legends? I am no means saying these people suck as actors, but it’s starting to annoy me that people are deluding themselves to believe that the A-Listers are terrible for this film, but these C-Listers are? Umm… las I checked not one of these people are that well known, only Lilly is, and the only reason she is is because she was born into all of this. Jarred Harris is the only Oscar nominee, the rest haven’t even been invited. Like I said, it’s fine that you all are staying positive, but respect the elder Actors for the young ones would not be here if it weren’t for them!

      • torontogirl98

For me I don’t care either way, but sometimes when you get a few big names for a movie all the attention and money is put on them rather than the movie. I know that is not always the case but that is what I think of when we talk about stunt type casting (I knwo that is not quite the right word but that is what comes to mind)

        • joshQ

You do make a good point. But that would be bad direction for the result of that. Harry Potter had some of the greatest actors along side new actors as the kids. They balanced it out just right. Besides because A-Listers are so damn rich, most of them don’t ask for a big pay check. Not saying their aint some stuck up ones. Now, I am only making an assumption here, but I can see Jack Nickelson being a greedy jackass with money. I can also see Danzel Washington being like… “No! I am too mature for something like this.” So honestly, you would probably get a lot more “No’s” for this film, than people saying “Yes, but I want to be paid all I am worth!” A good amount of them don’t need the money so therefore they don’t mind small budget films, especially cause some small budget films are usually extremely good. Not saying this will be though, when something it meant to be a franchise, that’s a whole other story. I am talking small budget like Juno, or Little Miss Sunshine. Not like Eragon. Terrible = no sequel. So that’s why it’s bothering me that they’re more willing to take a risk in hiring someone that may not be a very good actor, instead of calling someone up and asking if they want to do something for cheap.

          • torontogirl98

I guess that is true, I never really thought about it for HP. But like someone mentioned earlier they started with more modest bugdet for the film and as they grew they attracted more and more well known actors like Gary Oldman and Brendan Gleeson. That is what I am hoping for with these movies, but of course that depends on the success of the first one as you said. But I have seen many movies where actors I have never heard of just blew me away the first time I saw them on screen, so it’s a bit of a gamble for us at this point

  • torontogirl98

Here here, I know it may be easy to jump ship and believe the movie is going to suck but I would rather believe in it. No matter what the casting was going to make some people angry or frustrated. So I am 100% with Jersey!

  • Ashley D

    Couldn’t be happier!
