Jonathan born July 27, 1977 makes him makes him 35 years old at the moment. A little younger than I would have thought the actual Valentine was but I can live with it. I could definately get lost in those eyes and I could see why Jocelyn would have as well. In this pic he totally looks like he could be Jamies’s father. By that I mean there’s a resemblance to me.
Either way most articles are saying he is in talks, but that many sites can’t be wrong, can they? I mean how many days did we sit around waiting for Alec/Kevin confirmation and it turned out to be totally true.

Johnathan Rhys Meyers is an interesting pick for Valentine. I think he is a really good actor and I think he is intriguing. I have seen him in many roles; Match Point, Bend it Like Beckam, Vanity Fair, The Magnificent Ambersons, and Tudors and he has always impressed me. He has a real presence on screen that I think would work for Valentine. I think he would look absolutely fantastic with white hair too! His features are striking and his gaze is almost unnerving but in a really good way. Diabolical and magnetic at the same time. I am really glad that they are casting actors that are outside the box a little and perhaps not on everyone’s radar. I think this will make for a much more unique and interesting film in the end. The cast is pretty sexy and alternative which I love and I think that suits the non mainstream feel of the books. I for one am tatally excited!

Believe it or not, it actually is quite common for them to start filming while still looking for some actors, especially if it’s a small character that doesn’t make very many appearances int he film. They don’t need to film the movie in order.They never do. They go back and forth beginning, the end, the middle. Actually here’s an example. Ever seen 40 Days, and 40 Nights with Josh Hartnett? Well there is a scene where he is running through the streets of the city to get to where “Nicole” works and see if she is really engaged or not, like the “Bagel Guy” said. lol. IN the scene when he’s running, notice that his hair is somewhat longer than the scenes in the rest of the movie. While he’s running his bangs are flying backwards from the wind, but in the rest of the film his hair is too short to do that. That’s because they had to call him back to do some re-shoots later on, even after filming seemed over. They may call them back to do voice-overs because the sound wasn’t so great, and they need it clearer. etc etc. HOWEVER, an excellent Director, with a fantastic Crew, and company will have EVERYTHING done before the filming date, hell, they may even have everything done a good month before. James Cameron being one of them. He is EXTREMELY OCD about his films. But every Director and Crew is different. I personally think because the bigger Cats are dicks is the reason why their films are so freaking amazing….

Well as you already know, it’s used to describe the biggest stars of Hollywood… or the ones who get paid the most. Hell, I think there is a website somewhere where you can see how much some of them are worth. Like literally, not just to hire for a film production, but literally just worth. There’s even a “Hot List” for Directors. personally I never use that term, it just makes them look like jerks. lol. Actually the terms are fairly new. Some journalist in the 90′s came up with it while writing an article or something, so now everyone has been using the term ever since. SO actually there is a whole scale. A-Listers, B-Listers, and C-Listers. The scale predicts value based on getting a movie financed. Score is based on their former box office success, versatility, professional demeanor, and the ability and will to travel and promote movies. Not all companies pay for their flights. Sometimes they have to pay for it. Someone like Zac Efron is a B-List. And this is to NO OFFENSE whatsoever, but guys like Ryes Myers is in the C-List, they’re basically the people who most don’t recognize. the beginning comments being proof on this page. They’re the ones people remember, but can’t quite put a name in there? yeah. But don’t worry, there’s an even lower part of the scale. The D-Listers, they’re the ones who no one knows of period. They make small appearances, and eventually you may or may not put two and two together and realize that “HEY! that guy stood in the background during that scene in Good Will Hunting, was also the cashier in Super Troopers?!” lol the terms used to be described level of fame, or big bucks, now they seem to use the term for the biggest most important actors, and actresses. Even at one point some of stars who were born with fame and money were automatically A-Listers because of how rich and famous they were, now they use to the term for big guys like Spielberg to Jack Nickelson. I like using it to describe the legends of FIlm Career not the ones who are just famous because they’re famous… does that make sense?

judging by the adult actors… not very big. A-listers cost millions just for filming, and even more with other things. They’re hiring young, unpopular adults. Obviously these are people who aren’t as nearly as hi rankly paid as A-Listers. Not saying they suck, but they’re not A-Listers…. so apparently Harry Potter had a bigger budget with their first film than this one. Because they had plenty of A-Listers for that one…

I have to agree with Krissy and Scrottie, I don’t think he’s all that cute either. I don’t think he’s a bad actor though. But I still think he is waaayyy too young. Making someone look older is for different kind of films. Usually stuff like this they actually hire an older person. So I don’t really like that all that much. Make up can do wonders, BUT hopefully they actually do it right and it doesn’t look fake. And I agree with Andy and Jack, this dude with White blonde hair will just look weird. I think that they should actually leave it dark, which I don’t like either because Valentine and Jonathan are supposed to be white haired. I don’t know. This whole thing is wishy-washy…

I still really want Neal McDonough. He’s not super attractive or anything, but he plays psychopath really well. Not the kind of crazy that you cross the street to avoid, but the kind of guy you’d trust your kids with because his insanity only comes out in glimpses. I always imagined Valentine to be this really charming guy when he wanted something, but then when you’d see him pursuing his cause you’d see his blind insanity.
Maybe because the character of Jace is supposed to be the best looking of this series by far, not everyone around him are supposed to be. Although yes Valentine is supposed to be attractive, not every single detail about him falls back onto his angelic looks like Jace. Maybe that’s why.

Valentine is supposed to be someone who just has the persona of a family man. But he also has that glint in his eye that gives you that baaaaad feeling in the pit of your stomach. Someone who could become a famous scientist, famous surgeon, college professor, Philosophy etc etc etc. Expand your search on serial killers, most of them went to college, although most of them did not finish. it’s not that they don’t have the intelligence, they don’t have the patience. Valentine is a typical serial killer. He built a well hidden facade from all his friends, and used them to his advantage… hence signs of being a Sociopath. They have always said that there is a fine line between Intelligence and Insanity. Valentine is like the more attractive version of Hannibal Lecter. not saying he couldn’t surprise us, just saying that through strict critique it’s hard to just assume he’ll be great without witnessing auditions. I still stand by my opinion on Stephen Moyer making an EXCELLENT Valentine. Attractive. Older, and VERY good at being the villain… also very good at being sneaky, and hiding his- as Charlie put it- “Blind Insanity”!

Yes, but Valentine was idolized for his charm and rebellious intelligence, not his looks; though he is a handsome, well bred man. He’s got that snake in the grass quality that everyone is aware of yet is so utterly enamored by his charm that they turn a blind eye to it. Scary!
This conversation was more on the question of why people rather have a hot guy than someone with a great acting resume. Not for the fact that the actor isn;t good looking. In a general sense he is a good looking guy, but the girls in this conversation are just basically saying he’s not good looking to THEM, and it’s not even the reason they don’t like him as Valentine.

I answered your question. I’ve seen him in various (although he hasn’t done much) things and I just don’t see any miraculousness about his acting abilities. Sorry, I just don’t see him ever becoming an A-lister unless he proves otherwise. As for Alaric… I cannot remember his physical description so I don’t really care. Raphael? All I request is if he doesn’t look Mexican, BIG defference between Mexicans and us Spaniards! LOL
well seeing as the actors are heading to Toronto to start prep work they better get the rest of them locked in. So I have never followed a book to movie adaption before. Is it customary for films to be a week from production and not have the cast? And where did it say they weren’t auditioning the adult actors? I missed that completely I guess.
Dude. Michael J still looks so young. And Back To The Future was widely spaced out between sequels, they weren’t exactly planned, they came along because the first was such a huge success. 1985 the first one came out. The second didn’t come out til I was freaking born 1989. Then the last one came out in 1990. there’s a freaking five year space between the first and the last two films. So they weren’t planning on it, and also they got lucky with Michael not aging since that was a time that they couldn’t really do much about his appearance as they can now. And even so making someone look younger is more difficult than making someone look older. It costs more money to go back, then to go forward.

Yeah but that was the extreme. Not only Taylor Lautner is a sh*t actor, but the fact that he looks like someone threw him over the fence from Mexico and into our country was bad. His parents were white, with blonde hair, but he looked Mexican. but he had no clue he was adopted? Jace and Valentine aren’t supposed to look anything alike. AND Maryse was also referring to the fact that Jace’s and Valentine’s PERSONALITIES are very much alike, because the ARE. If you’re raised by someone most your life, you might pick up on their mannerism regardless whether or not you are related to that person….

That’s the Author throwing hints at you that they aren’t really related. They aren’t as well hidden as say… JK did with the Potter books.
