I found this brief interview on youtube and although it’s from 2010 it gave me a little more of a glimpse of our Simon. I mean, I love the attitude and one liners. He makes a joke and amuses himself even if not everyone around him necessarily gets it, which is totally the way Simon comes off.
He makes lite of everything and has fun while doing it. I think Robert is adorable in this clip. I love the head butting commment! And don’t worry, when Mortal Instruments wins all it’s awards, I am sure they will let you keep one!

Im going to speak my main about this. I just had finish the city of bones book.And i loved it. Is really cool and everything. And when i hear about a movie adaptation i get exciting. I think this cast is really cool. Yes they aren’t popular actors but who cares? This movies based in books are the new tendency. All new actors wants to be in them, and is a really good to the new ones to get some fame. And i enjoy more the character of simon in the book because he is like me in so many ways. Even in the drummer skills xd. But my point is that is all about love triangle now , the directos and producers are going to explode that. They are going to cut and add some escenes to bring the suspense about clare’s lovers. Because that’s the important thing now. Love triangles. sorry for my english :c

I still have to admit that I am very nervous to how this will all turn out. I hated the Simon character in the books until book 3 and forward. I felt he was whiny, selfish, and childish. Boo hoo the girl I loved all my life doesn’t love me back so in turn I am going to act like a baby over it. Sorry, lol. anways it worries me because I mostly liked the Jace character more than Simon mostly because Jace was basically like “shut the f*ck up I don’t have time for this” He wanted Clary, was in love with Clary but I didn’t find him to be acting as nearly as immature about the whole thing as Simon and Clary were, he was very quiet, and only insulted Simon because Simon would always start it, then Jace would finally say something when he and Clary were alone. I guess what I am saying is, the production is going to completely flip over the whole thing. I can see non-readers liking Simon more, because he may not be the best looking dude, but he is at least boyish looking, while Jamie just looks weird. I also feel that Sheehan is probably a better actor than Jamie, I don’t think Jamie is a bad actor, but I have seen most of the things he is in and I personally don’t see any significance in his portrayals. I think I’ve seen better so far. I know I am being premature about this, and that I can totally be wrong, which I may be. But I can’t help but worry about this a little bit. Sorry, I dont want no one to get mad at me for being a little negative, I just had to get that off my chest. lol okay I’m good.
i agree completely, we are all disappointed by the poor casting choices:( We will have to hope the other characters and save the film.
sorry guys but we are not ALL disappointed with the casting choices so please refrain from using the word ALL…some of you are disappointed and you are making yourselves heard and if it makes you feel better to vent have at it, whatever helps you sleep at night. Andy I agree Robert looks like a lot of fun and although I haven’t seen him in Misfits my husband thought he was awesome from day one. As for Jamie let’s face it, your a guy so I wouldn’t exactly expect you to get all warm and fuzzy over any of JCB’s performances. You as a male I feel connected with Jace in a very different way than the girls who read the book, who basically wanted Jace in a bad bad way! So you may have a more difficult time seeing JCB’s Jacelike nuances. To be fair guys, what has JCB really been in that we can see his acting ability??? Sweeny Todd, nope. Twilight/Harry Potter, bit parts, nope. Anonymous, not much screen time, nope…lastly Camelot, the only vehicle where he actually had screen time, heck it was about his character, but alas this series was poorly written and at times even they were reaching, yet I sat through it all and saw bits and pieces of Jace coming through. To his credit where I see most Jacelike attitude is the was JCB carries himself in real life. Part of what makes Jace, JACE is that he believes he is the hottest, sexiest, coolest guy in the room. He does not care what anybody thinks about him, except Clary of course. Maybe a lot of fans on this side of the pond have a hard time finding JCB hot or in some of your cases even attractive in the least, but for God’s sake he is a model where comes from. Women find him HOT, there is something about him and I think Lily saw it and Cassie saw it durng his audtion and I truly truly believe JCB has Jace in there and when he lets it out it is going to be great. I admit some of the casting choices baffled m a tad, but my only concern had bas been the ages of some of the actors, I fear that if God willing all 6 films are made some of their choices may look a little long in the tooth. But hopefully if City of Bone does well they will quickly get the remaining films in production. Sorry if I went off on a rant I normally don’t do this sort of thing..I leave these page posts to Scrottie but in this instance I wanted to chime in. Lets be positive we are getting a movie let’s embrace who they have chosen and unite as a fandom so we get all of Cassandra Clare’s work on film!!
Lol, I don’t think he is all that hot where he comes from. Not to be mean or anything. I don’t see him as hot in the least. More like cute, and I personally don’t find him even cute I am just generalizing his looks. lol. I think he doesn’t have “Man” like qualities, more like “Boy” like qualities, therefore he is more “cute” than hot. Just because he was a model at one point does not automatically make him hot. Hot to me is like Channing Tatum, Zac Efron, Chad Michael Murray, Will Smith, Brad Pitt, Ryan Ranolds, Joe Magniello, Alexander Skarsgard, Ryan Kwanten… I mean I could continue for hours. Basically I am not just using men who have muscles, they have that strong perfect jaw line, the high cheekbones that make them… well… men. lol Jamie is in the list with Logan Lerman, Michael Cera, Jesse Eisenberg, Shia Labouf, (who is starting to become hotter) Mark Rendall, Gregory Smith, Robert Sheehan, and so on and so on. Basically he’s on the list with all the guys who still look 15. None of these boys have that strong manly face that I described yet. Still going through puberty. lol. I know Jace is supposed to be 17, but I pictured him so good looking that he could trick older women into sleeping with him.

I think what Andy is trying to say is… the majority of people, not just women look at a guy like him and well… laugh. So they’re all more likely to attract to the boy that looks less…. weird looking. I mean, my friend and I swore that Jamie had to had Down Syndrome when we first saw him in Sweeney Todd, we felt that his face was deformed. I think he looks much better now after training, But even some of the guys I listed in my “Hot” List I am not personally attracted to, so that’s why I am fine with Jamie, because as long as he looks less Down Sydrome like, and more like a generally attractive guy I am okay with it. It does not HAVE to be someone that I personally find attractive. He has to be attractive to the majority of us, that doesn’t mean ALL of us. As for Camelot, it wasn’t Jamie who made the show crappy, it was the writing in General. All the best TV Shows on Movie channels are on HBO hands down, true dude! All the shows on StarZ mostly suck. So that’s first off. lol. I felt that they modernized the show wayy too much! They were all talking like modern dudes hanging out on their front porch drinking beers, meanwhile this is Medieval times? And like I said bad writing: The line when Jamie says that he was like Mark Antony, and Kay was like Julius Ceasar??? Ummm not all of us Americans are retards. Apparently Arthur of Camelot happened so long ago that there is no evidence to prove it actaully HAPPENED!! If all of this happened AFTER Cleopatra, Mark Antony and Ceasar then I think it would be much more easier to discover all the archaeological evidence of King Arthur… not to mention after Cleopatra, Mark Antony and blah blah came the times of Jesus!!!!! So… ummmm….. they got their freaking timelines all kinds of %#@& up in that show. They all presented themselves modernly as well, what they did with Guenivere’s character was terrible. They made her like the typical confused, mind playing teenager. “I really like you, so I am going to sleep with you today, and then lead you on for another year behind my husbands back, and continuously from there give you mixed signals!” Women were very much NOT like that back then. Then finally the bottom line that we all know is true about this show. The fact that Arthur kept on stealing his cousin’s ex girlfriends? Ummm….. hehehehe…. again not to be mean, but that would NEVER happen. Unless they were truly in love with each other no girl would chose to &^#$ Jamie over his Hot, GORGEOUS, SEXY Cousin!!! He was freaking Hot, and Jamie was…. a stick? With hips? No girl would chose sex with Jamie over THAT smouldering sexy piece of @$$!!! Sorry, but it’s true.
So yeah, like I said, I think Jamie has come a long way in looks, definitely. Although I still would never date him in real life. He is just…. not at all my type! But the actor of Jace DOES NOT have to be MY type he just NEEDS to have that general attractive appeal, he needs the majority of the audience to find him the most attractive in the film. THAT’s what I am saying. If the majority of the audience in the theater loves Jace more than almost any guy in the film then I will be more than satisfied. See? I don’t even need to find him attractive, I want everyone else to find him attractive. If the majority of the audience is appalled by Jace and more intrigued by Simon then I am sorry, but then that means the production failed to bring what the books brought. The majority of fans LOVE Jace the most… Then the majority of non-readers seeing this film need to like Jace the most as well. BUT like I said, we still have to wait for the release of the film…
Jersey, not to start anything but I kind of find it sexist that you think that just because I am male that I cannot notice a good actor. Seeing as there are not very many female Producers or Directors. Not trying to start anything just trying to make a point. Which, by the way, I am extremely excited to see what Scrottie will do in the future for filmmaking since there are not very many female filmmakers, last year was the very first female to win Best Picture at the Oscars, the award being presented by Barbara Streisan whose exact words were when she opened that envelope “Well, it’s about time!” Not to sound rude, but in the small number of female filmmakers, there’s just a little smaller amount of really good ones, one of them being Barbara. I think female filmmakers tend to be extremely weird with their work, Sophia Capolla’s Virgin Suicides…. wasn’t bad… nor was it good… I really don’t know what it was. LOL. But the ones that stand out, are the ones who either finally win an Oscar or who are widely respected like Barbara. I feel from what I have learned from Scrottie that she would be more like the men in the industry, Spielberg, Cameron, Jackson… etc etc. Like I said, I AM NOT trying to be sexist, just truthful. It really is a man’s business, and if you’re a woman and are highly successful in that business then that means you are an incredibly STRONG woman! I feel from the fact that Scrottie knows what she is talking about, and is very opened, honest, and true to herself that she will be one of the rare female’s we have in the industry that will basically kick@ss! Perhaps that’s what they need for this production, someone who will literally kick some @ss! That’s why directors like Spielberg, Bay, or Cameron are all men who will seriously chew you a new asshole in order to make you the best actor there is. We don’t have that with this production, sorry but true. I think Lilly would cry every day on set if she ended up in a film with Cameron. But THIS is why they end up so successful, they are hard@ss bosses, and most women just aren’t like that. Barbara, I am sure, could kick the living ^&$#@ out of anyone, lol that’s part of what makes her so great! So no more assuming just because I am male that I cannot pick up “Jace-Like” qualities in Jamie, if Scrottie doesn’t see it very often, then I am pretty sure I am not far off. As for his looks, No THAT I cannot do. But It does matter from a dude’s point of view as well, because seriously if a guy like him was walking around braging about how hot he was like Jace…. I’d kick him in the nuts just to knock him down a notch. If you’re going to brag about anything, then LIVE UP to what you are bragging about. Most of my friends and I (men) would beat the &^%# out of this kid if he waltzed up to us acting like Jace. We’d laugh in his face, spit on him, give him a permanent wedgie, just to prove to him that he sounds and looks like an idiot. So yes, I do believe a straight male’s opinion matters. If a good looking dude walked up to me talking and acting like Jace I’d chuckle and say. “you’re an @ss” and just talk about something else. lol. It’s the truth. And Jamie had a modeling Job? For what? “Pedophilia Today? Hahahaha I am sorry, but I picture him posing shirtless back when he looked like he was on drugs, and I just picture a little boy molester peering at the magazine. Gross!!! haha! I don’t even think Herbert would want him back when he looked like he was on crack! And Scrottie’s right, the majority of the audience has to like Jace the most, that’s just the bottom line. Because that’s the majority of readers. And right now, the majority of book fans do not like him, which like I said, I am sure I may end up being relieved and this movie could be pretty good. But in the end the majority of the non-readers in the theater NEED to be more into Jace than Simon, but if that doesn’t happened, I am with Scrottie… FAIL!

What I meant was I don’t think we have seen Jamie in enough bodies of work to make the assumption that he blows. And really would you kick Jace in the nuts?? Not nice you may damage the goods! I knew a guy who was that cocky with not a single thing to back it up. Not a single person who new him liked him as person, so needless to say, he had no friends. If you are going to be THAT cocky about the your looks, at least be good looking. Yeah you’re right, Jace doesn’t care what anyone thinks except for Clary, but that does not mean that he was ugly either. Too many girls in the books took one look at him and wanted to take him somewhere private. If Jamie walked into a normal place here All the girls would be like ….”Ew…” I know so many people say it’s Jace’s personality that makes him attractive, but incase you all forgot there are many scenes where chicks from afar are undressing him with their eyes. Jamie… I am sorry does not have that effect on women and you know it. Now I am NOT saying I have lost faith, or that this film will suck because we all don’t know, I am just saying that as fans we should be allowed to be worried about it, we should be allowed to voice our opinions. And personally I don’t think CC would ^%$@ Jamie with a 20 foot pole either. I think she was overwhelmed by the acting in the audition tape. She has kind of hinted that though he is not what Jace looks like he is a great actor. Since when are you people putting words in her mouth acting like she said Jamie is what Jace is supposed to look like???? Nowhere on any of her sites does she say that. She mentions his acting the most, and then goes on to say that he will be training and going through make up and blah blah. So…. I don’t know where you are all getting that she said Jamie is what she pictured for Jace. When people first started asking her who she would pick for her dream cast way before there was a film involved she kept on saying that she really didn’t have one. I agree that does not mean that ALL people are disappointed but visit other sites and read every single comment, more people are disappointed then those who are thrilled, and those who are just like “Okay I have faith.” Like I said I DO NOT mean to be a downer I just needed to get that little dilemma off my chest, but everyone blew it out of proportion as I was being negative or what not. I already apologized in my first post for bringing it up in the first place, at this point I wasn’t even stating that Jamie looks like a freak, even though he kind of does. I was more worried that his acting would not be as fantastic as everyone is exaggerating it to be, that’s all. I never said that he’ll probably suck, I said I was just worried about it. I am sure it could still be good and Jamie could be great, but again all I said was that I was just worried about it… that’s all…
