Seriously this is the most tight lipped casting I have ever experienced!! What are they doing over there??
So what we know is very little. Jamie is Jace, Lily is Clary and after that the information stalls…
Here’s what we have heard from various sources:
At leadst 100 actors have auditioned for Magnus and I would think out of all of those hopefuls they have found one but haven’t divulged his identity. There has been actors who have let us know that they have not won the role so that tells us that they have in all liklihood made a decision.
As for Simon according to CC they have offered the role to someone now they are just checking to see if his schedule can be freed up enough to take the job. ( I can only think of one actor who would have scheduling conflicts, but what do I know?)
Isabelle had been narrowed down to eight actresses last we heard. One of them was Australian so I am crossing my fingers and everything else that Phoebe Tonkin gets the role 
As for Alec there hasn’t been much grumbling about him at all?? Which I find rather odd. But then again this whole wait until we start filming to reveal the cast is odd as well. I mean, how can they start filming in August if no one has had time to rehearse with eachother??
Oh well I guess we have to assume they know what they are doing. Well I promise you all that when the news breaks about who wins these oh so coveted roles we will do a proper write up for each!

Phoebe Tonkin would be perfect for Izzy…if only she was a little bit taller. Lily’s got her by two inches and if I remember correctly, Izzy’s taller than most guys.
perhaps IMDB is wrong on the heights then. cuz it sayd Lily is 5’5 and Phoebe is 5’10 which I think it pretty tall for a girl. On Secret Circle she was taller than all of the other girls on the show as well, so I thought IMDB was accurate in that instance….

Yeah, 5’10 is real tall for a girl. I think average in height for girls is about 5’5 or 5’3 I can’t remember which, or if the number is in between or around either of them. I wish Lilly was shorter, because 5’5″ is REAL tall compared to being only 5’0″ and Clary is supposed to be real tiny. I am mostly bothered by it because I am real tiny too, and from the beginning of the book I related to her really well because of that. Like in the beginning of City Of Bones Clary thinks to herself that guys her age look at her as ‘cute’ not beautiful or hot, ‘just cute’. And I use to think of myself that way… actually I still do. Clary is one of the guys, and so am I, and girls who are seen as one of the guys don’t get a lot of boyfriends, because they look at us like… well… one of the guys. I have had a total of 2 really serious guys in my life, and the small ones in between that I either didn’t like, or they didn’t like me. And it’s all because I am a tomboy and don’t go all out to make myself up everyday. If I were on “What Not To Wear” they would pick on me. lol. I don’t dress ridiculously, but I don’t go all out. Just jeans, Band T-shirts, and converses. When I do dress REALLY nice, I feel uncomfortable. I feel pretty, but I don’t feel comfortable. My first love in high school told me I look prettiest when in my jeans and shirts because he could tell that dresses and other pretty things make me feel like a fish out of water. So that’s why I am kind of disappointed that they just picked Lilly out of a hat. Not that she isn’t good or anything, I just wish they would’ve looked for a tiny girl for the part. I was soooo happy that the girl in Hairspray was only 4’10″ and hooking up with 5’8″ Zac Efron

Nikki Blongsky. For the record I did not mean in real life, I was just glad they casted a short, chubby girl to stand along side Hollywood’s biggest Hearthrob of the decade. How many girls like that get the hot guy? I’m not saying it never happens, but I am saying that in Hollywood it is rare. You have to be tall, skinny, pretty, and just basically close to flawless. Yes make up covers a lot of the flaws up. But how often to you see a 4’10″ chubby girl stand next to a guy like Zac in Hollywood???

I really can’t wait till the movie comes out!!!! I really want the casting director to look at Megan fox she’s a perfect isabell light wood. Also I’ve been doing my research on Jamie Campbell bower and even though he may not look the part his acting is amazing so

Any on else really suspicious??? I mean, usually there pretty open with this, we were told the director after a few weeks, not months. They were trying to involve us eariler, but now I think there up to something. Instead of just reading our cries for news they probably all ready have it and are planning some big reveal teaser. They don’t really need film for that, or if they did they only needed one clip like the percy jackson teaser, all it was was him going up the elavator then the title. I mean Heck, the Hobbit is still finishing up filming, for the first part and the have a full trailer! So somethings up, I think along with most people there all reveling everything at once, but I think in some sort of creative way, like a present to the fans. After all, whats the fun in opening birthday presents when you know what it is, but you know there is a present same idea. Oh and one more thing, anyone else hoping Logan Lerman is Simon??? ^_^ (P.S Spelling and grammer is my achilies heel so please point out anything wrong

@scrottie I think cassie asked the studios what she can and can’t say, that is why she is not getting in trouble.
I think it’s cassie who said casting will be announced in two weeks so there is one more week left. let’s just hope the studio sticks to their word.
I agree with everyone. I don’t understand the silence, and the delay, and obviously they don’t care if it’s all that secretive because Cassie has been giving us information without getting in trouble for it. So what’s the big deal???? They just seem to be cramming everything in at the last minute. We’re supposed to be filming in August, Jamie and Lilly are already in full body training. What about Simon and Clary chemistry tests? Or Jocelyn and Clary? Luke and Jocelyn? Isabelle and Simon? etc etc. I mean, it’s June already. We need Alec and Isabelle in shape too. Are they forgetting that there are other characters besides Clary and Jace??? I know Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabelle are subplots, but they are still important to the whole of the story. Alec and ISabelle are also shadowhunters, they need to be in the best shape too. They need to learn sword fighting since that’s how Shadowhunters go in battle. To make a great movie, every aspect of it needs to be focused on to a great degree. So what the hell are they doing????

I agree, they pretty much suck at communicating. every little info we get, we get it from cassie(god bless her) but there are no updates from constantine. oh well, words going around that full casting list in 2 weeks

You know what I think? They need to step up their game and communicate better with the fans using social media. Advertising on tv and magazines is one thing, bit we’re the ones who spread the word and fill the seats in the theater. Blogs like this are the key to movie hype.
For all of Summits faults involving the Twilight saga, they at least gave us blow by blow updates on casting, filming, and behind the scene images. They involved us and valued our feedback. That created a loyal following. So these guys should be following Summits example.
I agree! I mean look at Hunger Games and Beautiful Creatures, both movies got greenlit, cast and boom straight to filming. I can’t imagine what the hold up is witht this particular film. It’s not the first book to film adaption and surely won’t be the last!

Well, I’m frustrated, but I’m just holding on to the thought that HOPEFULLY when they announce the cast it will be more then just the casting of 1 or 2 of the characters but the announcing of almost the whole cast…it would be even better if it came soon

#2) Cassandra Clare (you know, the Author?) has said a squillion times that she does not want Adam Lambert for the part. If that’s not enough for you, the reason is he is not Asian in even the smallest fraction. Go back and read the books, if you can stop typing ignorantly for that long, Magnus is part Asian.

okay Corey not to be devil’s advocate, but where do you get that he is “part asian” I am just curious? I have gone to multiple sites about Adam Lambert’s ethnic backround and nowhere is it saying asian at all, not even a smidge. So if you have seen it somewhere please paste the link on this thread so we can read for ourselves. I’m not trying to argue I would just like to see where you found that out. ( I BTW am a Glambert fan, have seen him in concert and everything, I too wanted him to have a chance at Magnus because he is who I pictured when I read the books, however first time I read the books I totally missed that Magnus was part Asian so that was my bad I guess.)

Yeah, IMDB Pro allows you to edit production information. Which I think is dumb. Don’t know why they allow that. But it’s basically just like wikipedia. Most College instructors don’t like you using it as an encyclopedia because random people who are not experts go on and edit the information themselves. With IMDB you just see the information. IMDB Pro is supposed to be for professionals. i.e. Talent Agencies, Management, Production Owners, and Casting Directors etc etc. But ANYONE can buy IMDB Pro, and go on and mess things up with a certain production before there is a lock on it. I really don’t understand why they have that feature in Pro, it only confuses and pisses people off. lol
IMDB is editable by anyone until the project is green-lit. Once filming/production starts, then the page for Mortal Instruments will be “locked” and accurate.

I so agree I am dying to know something, anything. Biut I just know or at least believe that once the news starts coming (hopefully soon!) it will come like a tidal wave because we have so many parts and details to hear about before filming can begin.
this casting business is incredibly frustrating. they’re just hiring actors for a wildly anticipated movie, not investigating a possible serial killer so why do they have to be so tight lipped about it?? the Magnus and clary chemistry testing strikes me odd too. and don’t worry they are casting isabelle and alec this week, just because actors are not coming forward doesn’t mean casting directors are not giving him any importance.
I’m sure they’re narrowing it down, but they haven’t announced mangus it yet maybe because they haven’t picked him yet(yes mangus needs to have chmeistry with alec for sure, but he also needs to have some sort of chemistry with Clary
I interned on a film set in college… it’s weird, but there’s little to no rehearsing in film. They just do a lot of takes.
Yeah, that’s what I’ve been trying to tell everyone. It’s not like a play, where you have to memorize every single line to a T. You just kind of get thrown in there. There are screen tests, and pre-script readings, but it’s still not at all like a play.
I so glad I’m not the only one that thinks the lack of Alec casting news is odd. I’m really confused about this and the magnus/clary chem testing. I’m sorry but I just don’t get that. Clary and Magnus interact but I would think the Magnus/Alec chem would take precedence over Magnus/Clary chemistry. Casting is supposed to start in less than two months and all they have is two parts cast?????? At least they seem to be in the last stages of finalizing things but geez man!
