movie news dutifully delivered!So I can’t post much; I’m running off the airport, literally, to catch a plane home.
I had a great meeting last night with Robert (of Constantin — the people who own the movie rights to City of Bones) and Jessica (screenwriter, along with Marlene King) and the director, who had such incredibly detailed questions about the film that I found myself having to pull out my iPad and reread City of Bones because even I couldn’t remember what happened. But he did, which is an excellent sign!
Anyway, it was a great meeting — we went on for hours till they kicked us out of the restaurant and everyone was incredibly enthusiastic. Now here is an actual piece of actual news: I know people have been fretting because Lily has so many projects (she’s a popular girl) so I checked in and she is locked down schedule-wise for an August 15 shooting start date for City of Bones.
Yes, that’s an August shooting start date. So there, an actual piece of news.
And that’s all for now, I run to the airport, but I’ll have a bit more for you later — like the director’s name.

Two thoughts:
#1) Two words: LOGAN LERMAN. Come on peeps, this HAS to be who Cassie is referring to. Lily and Logan are on set AS WE SPEAK. We’ve all been very vocal about Logan as Simon. Cross your bras on this people!!! Cross anything you got!
#2) WHO WAS AT THE RESTAURANT!???? Come forward…waitress, hostess, patron, rat…ANYONE!!! What can you tell us???????

This is sooo amazing!!!! I am so happy about this, but I would like to know who the casting director is so I can be an extra!!!! That would be amazing!!!!
I’m so flippin’ excited about this!!!!!! I’m so thrilled that Lilly will get a say for who will play Simon. I’m not worried in the least that they pick a phenomenal cast!!!!
I really dislike Logan Lerman for Simon- he’s too buff for Simon- i dont know…Simon to me is more dark and skinny, lerman in gaming tshirts…i dunno… plus he’s in Percy Jackson -another franchise anyway…
No I actually agree, I saw Simon as a very skinny tall dorky cute guy. lol. Logan is a a little larger built, and has the potential to get bigger. But I can see him being a dorky gamer. lol. I think he would play it well. BUT I must say this for the record… I am actually NOT liking that they are giving Lilly the freedom of helping to pick Simon. If I ever get that far, no way in hell will a cutsy spoiled actress get control of the set. Sorry I don’t want to be mean, but no way. And I know Cassie said that ohhhh mybe she has a right since she has a to kiss them both. A REAL actress can deal with whoever she HAS to kiss. A REAL actress can make chemistry look real even if they despise that person. They made that mistake with the movie Jumper. They let the actors control the set and the movie was kind of bad. The only real good star in that film was Jamie Bell. Forgive me if I’m wrong but… if the last time you saw your best friend he fell into a frozen river, and floated away never to be seen again, wouldn’t you freak out seeing them again ten years later? “WHOLY SHIT YOU’RE ALIVE!?!?!?!” The director let Rachael Bilson choose how her character reacted to that, and it seriously was terrible acting!!! Now I don’t judge acting in films like Star Wars, Jumper, I am Number 4, Star Trek blah blah blah! Only a true lover of the nerdy things knows that George Lucas’ does not give a damn about acting. Star Wars is star wars with or without acting! That’s why 99.9% of the actors from those films didn’t go much further…. Harrison Ford is the ONLY one who went on to have an amazing career. Go and talk to all the Trekkies, and Star Wars Nerds of the world (Like myself) and they’ll tell you the same thing. But there is a limit! Rachael Bilson’s acting in Jumper was terrible, Hayden Christensen was alright, he wasn’t great or terrible, he was just neutral. But I am positive that the main reason why her character appeared weak and stupid was because the Director gave her WAY TOO much freedom. The point of the Director is to DIRECT the DIRECTION he wants the actors to go. You don’t have a film without Directors, Producers, Actors, Key Grips, costume Designers, editors, computer techs…. etc etc. So do your job and DIRECT! So to be 100% honest I don’t like that they are giving her this kind of freedom. Just cause she is Phill Collins’ daughter doesn’t mean that she can be like Arnold Schwardzenegar and Clint Eastwood, and skip all the steps it takes to get those positions. All politicians have to go through years and years and years of school, why the hell should they skip all that just because of what they’re names are. The same rules apply to Lilly, just because we all know who you’re daddy is, doesn’t mean you get director’s seat on a set. Get down off your pedestal and go back to your position on the pyramid! LEARN how to direct first, before you take that responsibility. It just pisses me off, because here I am poor as all hell, working my ass of to become like either Spielberg or Cameron one day, and she gets to skip all of that just because of who her daddy is? Go back to college like the rest of American!!!!!!!!

My head just exploded. I’m soooo happy right now. Sounds like she’s refering to Logan to me too, in which case I’m VERY happy. This is AWESOME!
I didn’t picture Simon anything like Logan to be honest. Logan has the potential to be large built, I pictured Simon to be really really thin, and really tall. Logan is decently tall, about the average height for a guy. But I think he would play the part really really really well. =)
Man you go to work for 9 hours or so and you miss everything!! Yah so if we start August 15th we are Greenlit? right??
“Lily has what’s called “meaningful consultation” on the roles of Jace and Simon” —- is it me or did Cassandra imply that they are still casting for Jace? Am I reading into this? Someone tell me before my head explodes. ;-p

LOL, okay. BTW, I would assume they’re talking about Logan. I REALLY would love him as Simon. Ever since I read CoB, I always thought Logan would be perfect.
