At the time, they hadn’t announced ‘Camelot‘ as cancelled but Cassie shared if they renewed it would push TMI back. Now that we know ‘Camelot’ HAS, filming of The Mortal Instruments may begin as early as October. We all know Alex Pettyfer was offered the role of Jace by Screen Gems, but Cassie divulged that he refused on the grounds that he didn’t want to play in another YA movie. Book Two or the Infernal Devices, ‘Clockwork Prince’, will have more Magnus. (ie info about his father and his childhood). The ‘Infernal Devices’, the ‘Mortal Instruments’ Prequels will be developed as Manga. Cassandra Clare and Holly Black refer to each other’s work. Some of the character’s are shared and pop up in each other’s stories. Portions of ‘City of Lost Souls’ will take place in Paris, thus the reason she is there writing.

I still cannot come to terms with the fact that Alex isn’t going to play jace. This is just not fair! It is obvious that Alex was born to play Jace. His look, the way he talks, walks, looks on film in fighting scenes! I do not understand why he would turn down a role like that! Doesn’t he see that it could be a bigger phenomenon than the twilight movies!!!?? Jamie doesn’t suit the role. I don’t care what anyone says, Jamie looks more like a Sebastian type not jace! I fear that because Alex isn’t playing jace that the movie is not going to do the books any justice what do ever.

I was all for Alex at first, but then I watched him in a few films. Not that I don’t think that he is good looking or a good actor, but I am happy Jamie got the role.I dont know if Alex could have pulled off the range/depth of emotion needed.I am sad to see Camelot was cancled.I started watching it to get a feel for Jamie and I realy liked the show.NOW if we could just get some info on the rest of the TMI cast I would be super excited! lol

im glad he refused so that we can see jamie as Jace. The only reason why Alex Pettyfer was offered the role was because he resembled Jace in more than 99% of his photos on the internet.Search jamie campbell bower sweeney todd premiere in google images and you’ll see that Jamie looks like the perfect Jace! If they fix him up like this for city of bones (which they will)then in the end noone will even remember who alex pettyfer is. TEAM JAMIE!

I just wish they would cast some of the pivotal roles already?? My gosh if they even think of starting production on October don’t they want some of these people to gel with eachother and I don’t know run the scenes with eachother?? What the heck are they waiting for?? I mean I am sure there is tons of stuff going on and casting decisions are being made, but throw us a bone or something!! And you must stop referring to her as his “girlfriend” they are “engaged” that is why he wears a wedding ring..wow I don’t think I have ever heard of a guy wanting to show he is taken before he is actually locked in?…just goes to show you, our Jamie is an original
